A Very Pleasant Morning In Store.

When I stepped outside to check the conditions this morning at 05:30 there were just a few cumulus clouds evident in the sky. I could still see plenty of stars. Now (07:15) those clouds have been replaced by a sheet of stratus clouds. It is beginning to look a bit dismal out there. We did not have any precipitation here, in Wilton, Maine during the overnight, but there is plenty of humidity in the air. Despite the gray skies, the autumn colors seem to be getting brighter. We have not lost many of the leaves yet either, so I would guess that those colors are at their peak. Now would be the time to get out and observe them.
N.O.A.A. is forecasting no precipitation for our area today, in fact for the whole region that Gray covers. The cloud cover is supposed to increase as the day goes on (73%/80%/86%/93%). With the sky currently overcast (100% as I see it) I am not sure how to explain their measurement. The NEXRAD radar shows some echoes in southern New Hampshire, and they appear to be headed for the southernmost part of Maine. We do not seem to have anything moving in our direction. According to the Weather Underground model forecast maps we may get some light showers later this afternoon. Starting around noon tomorrow they see a generous amount of rainfall and stormy weather headed our way and lasting well into Saturday.
My Weather Stick is back to frowning again. With 87% relative humidity I am not surprised. My electronic instruments are showing the same forecasts as they did last night. My Weather Station sees fair skies with rising barometric pressure (wrong). My Min/Max Thermometer forecasts partly cloudy skies with falling barometric pressure (maybe). My remote weather station forecasts cloudy conditions with falling barometric pressure (probably). I would suggest that we will see cloudy conditions all day with a chance of light scattered showers

The N,W.S. forecast the temperature correctly for the last three forecast points overnight. They did miss the 20:00 hour point by more than the +/- 5°F that I use as the benchmark for accuracy. The only relative humidity point that they forecast correctly was at 02:00 this morning. They only had 50% of their temperature and humidity forecasts correct within limits. That is not what I would consider good value for our tax dollars. I wonder if they can do better today?
Forecast data for today.
Temperature: 43°F/58°F/65°F/63°F
Relative Humidity: 93%/59%/54%/58%
