Another Gray Morning.

At 05:30, when I took Ike out for his morning exercise, I found the sky overcast, no wind, the temperature warm and no precipitation. We had our low temperature of 48.2°F at about 22:30. It looks like N.O.A.A. got the predominant weather overnight totally wrong. There was no precipitation let alone steady precipitation. Until this morning it appears that the cloud cover was significantly less than they predicted as well.
For today in Wilton, Maine we can expect to start with rain, which will stop for a time, to be replaced by light scattered showers for the afternoon. West of us (say Rumford) the N.W.S. is calling for steadier rain, except from 11:00 to 14:00 hours. The estimate of the cloud cover is 100% all day. West of us, in New York, and Long Island Sound the NEXRAD regional radar is showing some significant rain moving generally in our direction. The Weather Underground model forecast maps are still calling for some significant storms in Maine for today and into tomorrow.
My Weather Stick is frowning still due to the 85% relative humidity. There is some agreement among my electronic weather instruments. All three of them forecast falling barometric pressure, and indeed it has fallen overnight. My Weather Station and Min/Max Thermometer forecast partly cloudy skies. My remote weather station sees cloudy skies. As I Look out my west facing window the clouds have certainly thickened and lowered. To me that indicates an improved chance for some precipitation. The Maple that I have been watching this season is now all yellow. If we get the kind of stormy weather that the instruments, N.W.S. and prognosticators say we will it may well be stripped of its leaves by tomorrow. Basically I think we are in for a fairly rough ride today with some stormy weather and significant rainfall.

The N,W.S. forecast the temperature correctly for all four forecast points overnight. The only forecast point that they had correct was at 23:00 hours last night. Great on the temperature, terrible results for the relative humidity. I must give credit where credit is due.
