She Is Stripping Off Her Fall Finery
By tomorrow morning this Maple will be as naked as a Jay Bird.
Most of the forecasts that I heard and red (other than N.O.A.A. which I could not retrieve) called for copious quantities of rain. Well, once again Mother Nature had the last word. We did have a couple of light sprinkles, but not enough to measure in the electronic rain gauge. It has been cloudy all day, with the exception of one peek of sun around 16:00 hours.
For the overnight, the N.W.S. forecasts rain for half the night and light rain for the rest of it. The echoes on the NEXRAD regional radar do not look as intimidating as they did earlier today. Some of them appear to have decreased in intensity. The Weather Underground model forecast maps also seem to have changed. The front appears to have slowed or stalled, and they are now calling for the rain to end by about 06:00 tomorrow morning. They also forecast significant cloud cover through the night with some decrease near dawn (98%//6%/93%/66%). So much for the big blow that was forecast.
My Weather Stick is smiling slightly due, this time, to the 67% relative humidity. All three of my electronic instruments forecast foul weather overnight with falling barometric pressure. The wind has picked up, and the clouds appear to be moving rapidly through the area. While I was out a few minutes ago there was some very light rain, or rather a few drops hit me while I was outside. I guess that we will still get some rain, but at this point the amount may not be as great as they forecast earlier today. (Those forecasts talked in terms of an inch or more.)

The N,W.S. had exactly one point in one parameter correct or nearly so, and that was the 17:00 hour point for the relative humidity. This did not give us fair value for our money from the National Weather Service.
Forecast data for the overnight.
