The Month Ends On A Cool Note.
N.O.A.A. did have the predominant weather forecast correct for the overnight. We had no precipitation, and the cloud cover did decrease until this morning when I went outside at about 05:30. The cloud cover then was a bit more than 30%. My understanding was that the temperature was not supposed to drop below freezing until around 05:00 hours. Despite the fact that the temperature forecasts were within five degrees they were high, and the temperature was below freezing almost all night. My hose should thaw by the time I get to the chores this morning. Right now (07:15) the temperature is still at 28°F. That will teach me to drain the hose.
For today the N.W.S. forecasts no precipitation, but cloud cover in the mid-thirties range (33%/34%/34%.34%). That will probably help to keep the temperature a bit lower than yesterday, since the sun will not get to the atmosphere to warm it up. The NEXRAD radar is not showing any echoes over Maine, but thee are some minor ones over western Connecticut. The Weather Underground model forecast maps indicate that we will have a clear day today. That does not say anything about tomorrow afternoon when they forecast precipitation for our area including Wilton, Maine.
My Weather Stick is frowning again due to the 85% relative humidity. With the temperature and relative humidity where it was at 05:30 when I walked Ike I was frowning too. My electronic instruments are showing a bit of a mix. My Weather Station and Min/Max Thermometer forecast fair skies with rising barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecasts partly cloudy skies with steady barometric pressure. I think we can expect to see some clouds, and they will probably thicken and lower during the day today, but there will be no precipitation. I cannot say the same for tomorrow, but we will see what happens. Enjoy the Ghoul Weather tonight, and be careful of the ghosts and goblins as you travel about this evening. You should not have to worry about the witches since they will be aboard their brooms. Happy Witches New Year (Samhain)

If we round the 23:00 hour forecast temperature up then all four of the N.W.S. temperature forecasts were correct overnight. The only relative humidity forecast that they missed was a 02:00 hours. This was a pretty good attempt by the N.W.S. at prognostication. One has to wonder if they can do as well during the day today.
