Something New And Different--Heavy Snow!!

101_4810.jpg
The View From The Second Story At The Start Of The Storm
N.O.A.A. got the predominant weather correct. We started the day with no precipitation, moved to light scattered snow showers (we did not have any, and then moved into snow, and it has continued to get heavier and heavier. Right now we are receiving our snow at over an inch an hour. We now have about 4 inches of new snow. It is as dark as the inside of a pocket outside, and there is not much traffic moving on Route 133. The only think I have seen recently is the snowplow, and he was speeding.
The N.W.S. forecasts snow all night long. If this happens we could very well wind up with 18" of new now out of this storm. The NEXRAD composite regional radar shows the storm deepening and growing stronger. Currently the Weather Underground model forecast maps are not coherent, but from this morning's report it still looks like this one will last until tomorrow afternoon.
My Weather Stick continues its frowning ways, and with 86% relative humidity I cannot blame it. All three of my electronic instruments now call for falling barometric pressure. My La Crosse Weather Station has issued a storm warning. The other two call for foul weather. It is now 20:45, and I have just gotten home from a New Years Party.. We had a good tome with neighbors and friends. The snow though has continued to fall, and we now have somewhere in the neighborhood of 10" on the ground. I will only report what I had at 16:30 when I took the rest of the data. A picture will be worth a thousand words tomorrow morning. So far there seems to be no letup. The high temperatures today were 26.5°F, 27.4°F and 26.4°F in the usual order. I think the snow will continue for a while (well into tomorrow morning or forenoon). I know this is the holiday, but thee may be another one tomorrow if this storm continues. If you have an extra day off enjoy getting the snow out of your dooryard.

The N.W.S. missed the 16:00 hour data point, but that was only by one degree outside the set limits. They did not do nearly as well with the relative humidity. The only forecast point they had correct was at 07:00 hours. I guess they have become snow blind.
Forecast data for the overnight.
Temperature: 26°F/27°F/22°F/21°F.
Relative Humidity: 85%/93%/95%/89%
