This One Ended Earlier Than Expected!

A Total Of A Foot Of New Snow
With only an additional 9" of new snow since yesterday's report we now have another foot of new snow. That makes it 55" on the season. We already have half of our "normal" snowfall of 100", and there is another month before mid-winter" or Candlemas. The next step is to dig out (snowblow out) from this storm. There appears to be some wind, so the cleanup should be interesting. N.O.A.A. appears to have gotten this one about right.
For today the N.W.S. forecasts light scattered snow showers through the noonhour with no precipitation for the afternoon. The NEXRAD composite regional radar shows some remnants of this storm to our west, but they appear to be moving south. The Weather Underground model forecast maps indicate a period of several days without a new storm for Wilton, Maine. That should be nice, but it is supposed to be cold for the next few days.
My Weather Stick is still frowning and the relative humidity is still above 80%. Two of my electronic instruments currently forecast mixed or unsettled conditions. All three of them see the barometric pressure rising. The remote weather station has seen the barometric pressure rise slightly, but not enough to change the weather forecast from foul weather. It just takes that one a bit longer to respond. I think the storm will continue to move off to the south and east leaving us with clearing skies during the day today. Based on the Weather Underground model forecast maps I do not think we will see anything more than some clouds over the next few days.

The N.W.S. had all eight forecast data points within the limits set for accuracy. A job very well done to start the New Year. Congratulations Folks.
