The Next Round Of Winter Begins!!

And Now We Begin Again
Overnight N.O.A.A. forecast no precipitation for most of it and light scattered snow showers for the 04:00 hour period. We did not have any showers here in Wilton, at least there was no new snow on the ground when I took Ike out for his morning constitutional. The sky was overcast though with some wind out of the North Northeast and stratus clouds. It certainly does look like there is some weather headed in our direction.
For today the N.W.S. predicts snow all day. This may well be another significant snowstorm with amounts well in excess of 6" before it is over tomorrow around 06:00 hours. We are further forecast to have 100% cloud cover all day, and that would certainly support the idea of a snowstorm all day. The NEXRAD composite regional radar shows this storm exploding in the Gulf of Maine bringing the snow in on a North Northeast wind. The Weather Underground model forecast maps do show things getting wound up right about now (09:00 hours), and indeed they are.
My Weather Stick, believe it or not, is smiling, and the relative humidity supports that at 60%. My La Crosse Weather Station indicates a storm warning due to the rapidly falling barometric pressure. My Min/Max Thermometer forecasts foul weather with falling barometric pressure. The remote weather station does not yet have the word and forecasts cloudy conditions with falling barometric pressure. We recorded low temperatures of 22.8°F, 22.5°F and 27.5°F in the same order as above. I think it is going to snow, and by tomorrow morning the snow gauge will not look anything like it does above. There will be significantly less of it showing above the snow than there is now. Grab your sled and hold on, we are going for a ride.

The N.W.S. had all four of the temperature forecasts correct overnight, or at least within 5 degrees. The only relative humidity forecast point they missed was at 04:00 hours, and that by 3% to be within the +/-10% limit. Not a bad job overnight.
