Snow, Snow, Beautiful Snow!
Well, N.O.A.A. had this one right for sure. This would have been posted much earlier, but because of the snow the satellite dish could not pick up the signal. I do hope that when and if they move the dish that problem will be resolved. It did snow all day and into this evening. In fact at 22:00 hours it was still snowing. We had, by 15:30 hours, 10" of new snow. That now gives us 15" on the ground. There has been some wind, but it does not seem to have been a major factor in drifting the snow here, as it has been in other areas.
For the overnight we were expected to start with snow, and that snow was to taper to light scattered snow showers. The NEXRAD composite regional radar at 04:00 showed the storm gone from all but far eastern Maine. There are a few residual echoes west of us, but they do not appear to be headed in our direction. The Weather Underground does not show the storm completely gone from our area until around noon today, so I would guess that we will see some cloudy weather until then.
My Weather Stick was frowning at around 20:00 hours, when I checked it and took down my readings from the La Crosse Weather Station. The relative humidity at that time was 82%, so it had a right to frown. All three of my electronic instruments forecast foul weather with falling barometric pressure. The recorded high temperatures for today were 23.5°F, 26.1°F and 30.4°F. Last night it appeared that we were going to have continued snow for a while, and then it might taper to light scattered snow showers. I will photograph the snow gauge and try for a panorama of the side yard for this morning's report.

The N.W.S. had all four of the temperature forecasts correct today, or at least within 5 degrees. The only relative humidity forecast point that was correct was at 07:00 hours. Kudos for the temperature, and demerits for the relative humidity forecasts. I do not know why they should have missed the relative humidity by the amount they did, but they did, and that is the simple truth.
Forecast data for the overnight.
Temperature: 22°F/20°F/19°F/18°F.
Relative Humidity: 84%/84%/84%/80%
