The Dawn Was Clear!
While N.O.A.A. predicted scattered light snow showers for the first half of the overnight there were not enough clouds to produce even flurries over Wilton, Maine. They did have the prediction correct for the second half of the period since there was no precipitation to be had. When I took Ike out early this morning there was not a cloud in the sky, but there are currently some high thin cirrus clouds to our west. Oh, by the way, it was cold, so we did not waste any time getting back in the house. Before I came in I did add some wood to my Outdoor Wood Boiler.
For today the N.W.S. forecasts scattered light snow showers all day. They also predict that the cloud cover will continue to increase as the day wears on (64%/73%/82%/84%). If that is indeed the case we could have some of those light flurries later today. As clear as it is to our west I have my doubts about that. There is nothing showing up on the NEXRAD composite regional radar, with the exception of some lake effect snow east of Lakes Ontario and Erie. The only storm showing up on the Weather Underground model forecast maps is to far east of us to be a problem.
My Weather Stick sees the 72% relative humidity and is expressionless. All three of my electronic instruments see the barometric pressure rising. Two of them forecast fair weather and the remote weather station forecasts cloudy conditions. The recorded low temperatures were 10.5°F,14.4°F and 22.6°F. I think that latter forecast is probably the result of the slow response time to the rising barometric pressure by that instrument. I think we are going to have a reasonably clear day with some wind making it feel much colder than it actually is. I also think that we will not get out of the twenties today.

Overnight the N.W.S. correctly forecast the temperature and relative humidity at all four points. Another great job done by our N.W.S.. When they do it right I say so, and when they do it wrong I say that too.
