Yet Another Night Well Below Freezing!

N.O.A.A. forecast no precipitation overnight and cold temperatures. The temperature did start to rise after 01:00 hours, probably due to the influx of some clouds. By 09:00 hours the sky was overcast, and we were having one of the light scattered snow showers that they predict for today. 6 degrees is still cold in anyone's book. That little snow shower did not add anything to our total snowfall for the season. That total for Wilton, Maine is around 83 inches for the season to date.
For today the N.W.S. , as has already been noted, forecasts light scattered snow showers with a cloud cover to support it (94%/90%/86%/81%). The NEXRAD regional composite radar does show a significant storm well off the coast of Long Island, N.Y., and it is moving Northeast. The Weather Underground model forecast maps indicate that we will be under the influence of this storm until around mid-week. We will not get a lot of snow out of it, but there may well be some snow showers that will erupt from time to time.
My Weather Stick is expressionless again due to the 73% relative humidity. Two of my electronic instruments forecast fair skies (ha-ha) and rising barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecasts unsettled weather with steady barometric pressure. It is nice to be able to pick the forecast that fits what I see outside. Today it is the remote weather station that appears to be correct. So we can expect unsettled weather today with a chance for some snow showers from time to time. We did have low temperatures overnight of 6.0°F, 7.7°F and 15.3°F. That was cold, but not as cold as it
has been.

The N.W.S. did do well with the temperature at the beginning and end of the overnight period, but they missed the 22:00 and 01:00 hour points. They did not do as well with the relative humidity, getting only the 19:00 hour forecast correct. I suspect the ocean storm may have had some influence on that.
Forecast data for today.
Temperature: 5°F/15F/25°F/26°F.
Relative Humidity: 95%/77%/52%/52%
