One More Day Below Freezing!!
N.O.A.A. forecast light scattered snow showers for the day today, and we could see showers from time to time, and even experienced some right here in Wilton, Maine. I needed to drive to Auburn and most of the way down this afternoon I was in the middle of a snow shower. There were plenty of clouds around, and the temperature did not get above 26°F outside my truck. It was even colder coming home.
The N.W.S. does not forecast any precipitation for the overnight. They do, however, forecast significant cloud cover (94%/71%/70%/64%). I looked outside to see if there really was that much cloud cover, and I could see none. In fact the stars are brighter tonight than I have seen them in a while. The NEXRAD composite regional radar does see the ocean storm stretching from just off Portland all the way down to New York City. It looks like Cape Cod is being pounded by this one. We do not seem to be getting any of it. The Weather Underground model forecast maps show about the same thing with the storm hanging around until sometime Wednesday. There may be an occasional snow shower, but nothing of note from this one.
My Weather Stick is still expressionless with the relative humidity at 66%. Two of the electronic instruments call for fair skies and rising barometric pressure. The remote weather station steadfastly holds on to unsettled conditions with rising barometric pressure. The high temperatures this afternoon were 26.7°F, 28.1°F and 23.0°F (in the barn). I think the storm has moved a little farther out to sea, and that is why we are not seeing the cloud cover over Wilton that may be seen closer to the coast.

The N.W.S. did do well with the temperature throughout today since they got them all within limits. The only relative humidity forecast they missed was at 07:00 hours this morning. They did a much better job on their prognostications than they have been.
