It Looks Like It Will Be Interesting Today.

For the overnight N.O.A.A. predicted that we would not have any precipitation, and they were correct. When I first stepped out with Ike this morning there were just a few clouds to our west, but now those clouds have thickened and lowered. So, instead of cirrus clouds and partly cloudy skies we now have nimbostratus clouds and an overcast sky. The temperature is on the rise this morning, and we may even break the freezing mark again.
For today the N.W.S. forecasts no precipitation, but they are calling for some significant cloud cover (61%/61%/55%/78%), and that increasing over the day. There is a storm system to our south and west, but it seems to be moving due west. Depending on the track of that storm we may or may not get any precipitation from it. That is what is showing up on the NEXRAD regional composite radar. The Weather Underground model forecast maps indicate that clouds will overspread the region today, and we will have some inclement weather tomorrow. If the temperatures continue as they are this will be either an ice event or rain event for our area. With the ground as cold as it is, and the snowpack as it is, this could be a very nasty storm to try to travel in. Ice is not conducive to safe driving. It might be better to stay home for a while tomorrow before venturing out on the skating rink we sometime call roads. That is just my opinion, and depends on the track of the storm.
My Weather Stick is smirking, just a little, in response to the 69% relative humidity. All three of my electronic instruments are in agreement. They say we are going to have some stormy weather with falling barometric pressure. They recorded low temperatures of 10.5,°F, 13.9°F and in the barn it was 20.7°F. We did not get to the single numbers overnight, so it was not as bad going outside this morning. I am sitting here watching the clouds change character almost from minute to minute. We can now see cumulus clouds, and it is mostly cloudy. This is just more proof that in Northern New England if you do not like the weather wait a few minutes and it will change. You will either hate or love the change. I think we are going to see unsettled weather through the day in preparation for some stormy weather overnight into tomorrow.

The N.W.S. forecast the temperatures correctly at all four points overnight. They only got the 19:00 hour point correct for the relative humidity. The rest were off by more than 10%. That is not one of their better showings.
