It Appears That A Mess Is On Its Way!!

We did have a little bit of sunshine today, but not much. If we had more we would have been close to 50°F this afternoon. As it was we not only broke the freezing mark we were into the low to mid forties on the north side of the house as well as in the middle of the field on the west side of the house. The clouds varied from cirrus to cumulus to nimbostratus. The Nimbostratus were the last ones I saw before darkness set in. We did not have any precipitation, but it certainly looked like we might at several times duri9ng the day.
The N.W.S. forecasts a brief period of sleet or freezing rain early this evening. That was expected to be followed by a period of no precipitation and the second half of the night is supposed to yield more sleet or freezing rain. It will be an ice event at any rate. The NEXRAD regional composite radar still shows an event to our south and west, but it now appears to be moving in our direction. It also seems to be moving very slowly, and the longer it takes to get here, the longer it will take to leave. According to the Weather Underground model forecast maps this event should last into tomorrow night around midnight. The predicted cloud cover is supposed to be 100% all night long, and I think I believe it. It does appear to be as dark as the inside of a pocket out there tonight.
My Weather Stick is still smirking at the 70% relative humidity. All three of my electronic instruments are forecasting foul weather with falling barometric pressure. The high temperatures recorded this afternoon were 44.6°F, 41.6°F and 31.3°F. The barn is still lagging behind the outdoors on the way up as well as on the way down. I think we will see some inclement weather by morning, and it will probably get worse until the middle of the afternoon or early evening. Driving will probably be dangerous at best. I much prefer snow to icy roads, and I need to get grain sometime tomorrow.

The N.W.S. forecast the temperatures correctly at the first two points this morning, and then missed the 13:00 and 16:00
hour points this afternoon. They were within +/-10% of the relative humidity readings for the first three points today. The
only one they missed was at 16:00 hours. This was not great, but not bad either.
Forecast data for the overnight.
Temperature: 32°F/32°F/31°F/28°F.
Relative Humidity: 51%/61%/72%/92%
