The Arctic Air Has Returned!

N.O.A.A. predicted no precipitation overnight with relatively low cloud cover. It appears that they were right on both counts. When Ike and I stepped out this morning the temperature was in the high teens, and the footing was more than just a little treacherous. Everything that had melted or had rain remaining on it had frozen. We did find areas of bare ground that we could walk on safely, but there were still areas where the ground was covered with ice. Needless to say we did not waste a lit of time on our first excursion outside today.
The N.W.S. forecasts no precipitation for today in Wilton, Maine, and very little cloud cover (18%/13%/8%/18%). That should make for a bright sunny day. It will probably not get above freezing according to their forecast. The NEXRAD regional composite radar does not show any echoes in our area. The only thing I could see was the usual lake effect snow in Western New York State. The Weather Underground maps are back, and the forecast no precipitation for today. Starting tomorrow afternoon and into Saturday morning they are predicting a bit of a mess.
My Weather Stick is expressionless at 53% relative humidity. All three of my electronic instruments forecast fair weather with rising barometric pressure. The roads did dry out overnight, so there should be no problems with travel this morning. The low temperatures around my property were 16.8°F, 17.6°F and 22.1°F. I must agree with my instrumentation and the N.W.S that there will not be any precipitation today, and that the temperatures will probably not get above the freezing mark. We do appear to have some red in the sky this morning as the sun is rising, and that may portend some foul weather in the next 24 hours, but we will have to wait to see on that.

The N.W.S. forecast the temperatures correctly for all four forecast points overnight. There were not quite as lucky with the relative humidity forecasts. They missed the 22:00 and 07:00 hour forecasts by more than 10%. They only missed two of the 8 forecast points, so that is not too bad a performance.
Forecast data for the overnight.
Temperature: 24°F/28°F/26°F.
Relative Humidity: 59%/45%/37%/42%
