A Very Clear, Cold Night!!
N.O.A.A. forecast it and I suggested it, and indeed the bottom fell out of the temperature as the sky became completely clear. At sunrise the temperature took another nosedive falling from 6°F at 04:00 hours to 0.0°F at about 07:00 hours. At that point a degree or two did not matter. Ike wanted to come in quickly and so did I. We are still having some wind, but when I took the readings the wind was calm. Therefore be advised that it may well feel much colder out there than it is as a result of the wind-chill.
For today the N.W.S. indicates that there will be no precipitation during the daylight hours. There may be some moving into southwestern Maine after 16:00 hours, so be advised about that. There is some snow showing up on the NEXRAD regional composite radar in southwestern Pennsylvania, and that appears to be headed our way. The Weather Underground model forecast maps predict a 12-18 hour event starting around 09:00 this evening. From the forecast this system is taking direct aim at us. There may be some rain at the coast, but they are forecasting a significant snowfall for the foothills and mountains. This will not be a fun ride, apparently.
My Weather Stick is expressionless as a result of the 73% relative humidity. The recorded low temperatures were 0.0°F, 1.8°F and 9.0°F. The electronic instruments forecast rising barometric pressure right now. Two of them forecast fair skies for today while the remote weather station predicts unsettled weather despite the rising barometric pressure. The cloud cover is predicted to slowly increase (/7%/20%/33%/54%) throughout the day in anticipation of the gathering storm. I think we will have another
significant snowstorm in our area tonight and tomorrow. I would suggest that if you can you work at home tomorrow. It will not be a pleasant day to be on the road.

The N.W.S. did much better overnight than they did yesterday. They were within 5°F of the actual temperature at each of the forecast points. The only relative humidity forecast that had a greater than 10% difference from the recorded percentage was at 19:00 hours. This was a good job. Thank you.
