The Storm Is Clearing The Eastern Horizon.
We did have some freezing rain and sleet early last evening, but I did not stay up to see when it actually stopped. When I got up this morning around 03:30 the clouds were moving off to the east, and at 07:00 hours they were just about gone. You could see just a thin strip on the eastern horizon. That agrees with the NEXRAD regional composite radar that showed the storm moving off into Canada. The Snow Gauge looks the same as it did last night with the precipitation at the bottom of the 10 in the 3rd foot above the ground. So we now have 34" of snow on the ground with a total of 117" on the season here in Wilton, Maine.
The N.W.S. forecast for today has us receiving no additional precipitation and the cloud cover clearing until late this afternoon when there may be some high thin clouds moving in (21%/16%/10%/19%). This apparently will be in advance of some light precipitation tomorrow. From the apparent track on the Weather Underground model forecast maps we may be on the wet side of this system, but we will need to wait and see about that. By the way, the snowplow has winged all that ice from the road into my driveways, and in order to clear it I guess I will need to get my shovel out to move it because the snowblower will not handle it at all. That will take some time.
My Weather Stick does not like the 88% relative humidity and continues to frown. There is no surprise there. All three of my electronic instruments forecast rising barometric pressure. Two of them forecast fair skies while the remote weather station is calling for cloudy skies. I imagine that it will catch up with the other two in a couple of hours. From the N.W.S. forecast it appears that we may have a little bit of melting going on today with the sun shining and the temperature moving a little above freezing. I think we will have a clear day, and it will be quite pleasant for a winter day. Enjoy the sun while you can. Our overnight lows were not as bad as they could have been with 21.0°F. 22.4°F and 27.5°F. We could have gone below 0°F as we have in past years after a storm of the magnitude that we had yesterday. Let us be thankful for small favors.

The N.W.S. only missed the 04:00 hour temperature forecast. They were within 10% of the recorded relative humidity with their forecasts. All in all, not a bad job for the overnight. This was certainly better than yesterday.
