Oh No, It Looks Like Another Storm Approaches!

N.O.A.A. predicted no precipitation, and that along with a slight increase in the cloud cover is exactly what we had. There are some high thin cirrus clouds moving into the area of the foothills of Western Maine. Oh, it was cold again last night as I suggested it might be. We did go below zero once again. The sun rose like a ball of fire, giving us a red sky once again.
For today the N.W.S. forecasts no precipitation for the morning hours, but a chance for some light scattered snow showers this afternoon. There is a storm system showing up on the NEXRAD regional composite radar south and west of us. It appears to be frozen precipitation (not snow), and is moving in our direction. The Weather Underground model forecast maps show this system moving into our area this evening. It is forecast to be a mix of snow sleet and freezing rain as it moves straight through our area of the foothills. Both the temperature and the cloud cover are predicted to rise during the day today (-3°F/13°F/25°F/27°F//54%/62%/70%/85%). That is a 30 degree change in the temperature from 07:00 to 16:00 this afternoon. That should be noticeable.
My Weather Stick is having its usual response to the 76% relative humidity by frowning just a little. There does not seem to be any agreement among my electronic instruments. My La Crosse Weather Station forecasts fair skies with rising barometric pressure. The Min/Max Thermometer indicates unsettled conditions with falling barometric pressure. Finally the remote weather station forecasts unsettled conditions with steady barometric pressure. They did record low temperatures of -2.9°F, 0.0°F and 8.4°F. I see clouds thickening and lowering to our west, so, I would suggest that we will see that continue through the day, and certainly by evening we will see some precipitation start. The form of that precipitation will depend on the temperature. The warmer it gets the more likely it is to be rain or freezing rain.
Low Temperature (°F): -2.9
Current Temperature (°F): -1.6
Relative Humidity (%): 76%
Dew Point (°F): -7.4
Barometric Pressure (in Hg): 30.31
Heat Index (°F): N/A
Wind Direction: East Southeast
Wind Speed: 3.3
Wind-Chill (°F): -1.4
Precipitation (Type): None
Amount (Inches): 0.00
Cloud Cover (AM): Partly Cloudy
Cloud Type: Cirrus

Comparative data for the overnight .
Temperature:9°F/9.1°F//6°F/6.3°F//2°F/0.8°F//1°F/-2.3°F
Relative Humidity: 66%/63%//69%/67%//83%/73%//95%/74%

The N.W.S. had all four forecast temperatures correct overnight. The only relative humidity forecast that did not match the recorded data was at 04:00 hours. This was a pretty good result in their column. Not a bad job at all.
Forecast data for today.
Temperature: -3°F/13°F/25°F/27°F.
Relative Humidity: 100%/70%/52%/60%
