The Clouds Came And Now Are Going!

Today N.O.A.A. did not quite have the forecast correct. Our predominant weather turned out to be sunny with clouds moving in late this afternoon. We had no snow showers, but I am not sure what this evening has in store for us. During the late afternoon stratus clouds moved in giving us some overcast skies, and shortly after 16:30 hours those clouds moved out and the sun was shining again. Things just seem to be very unsettled right now.
The N.W.S. forecasts no precipitation for our area overnight. There are snow showers forecast for the area just a little north of us in the mountains. The cloud cover is expected to increase to 55% then decrease through the mid-thirty percent range ending in the mid twenties. There are some snow shower and freezing precipitation showing up in Oxford County, and there are some scattered showers west of us, but I do not believe they will cause us much in the way of problems. This is what the Weather Underground model forecast maps predicted earlier today, and once this mess gets through here we should have a decent week in store, although it may be colder than it has been.
My Weather Stick is responding to the 61% relative humidity by smiling. That is the first time in a while that it has smiled. Two of my electronic instruments are calling for fair skies with rising barometric pressure. I guess the barometric pressure has not risen enough to affect the remote weather station since it is still calling for foul weather with steady barometric pressure. The recorded high temperatures were 39.7°F, 41.6°F and 36.9°F. So we did get above freezing enough that my carriage house roof is now clear of snow and ice. Some of the chunks of ice are too be even for me to move. Now we can start having the snow for the second half of the winter arrive. Just think open water fishing starts in less than six weeks. BRING IT ON!!

The N.W.S. did not do as well today as they did overnight. They had all but the 16:00 hour temperature forecast correctly. The
same was true of the relative humidity. Not one of their best attempts, but it was not one of their worst either.
