Clear As A Bell This Morning!
We had another red sky this morning at sunrise. I did not get to photograph it, but I did see it. More often than not that portends foul weather in our near future. There is supposed to be a total lunar eclipse this evening, and very frequently the sky gets quite cloudy and we have storms during these events. It was cold, as N.O.A.A. predicted, overnight. We did not have any precipitation either, again as N.O.A.A. predicted. I do think that the cloud cover was considerably lower than they predicted.
The N.W.S. is forecasting light scattered snow showers today, but with no clouds in the sky, at least at the present, I do not know where they will come from. The forecast cloud cover (31%/50%/69%/65%) could support showers, but they have to get here first. I checked the NEXRAD composite regional radar, and there are no echoes showing up there, with the exception of some lake effect snow east of Lake Ontario. The Weather Underground model forecast maps also show that we can expect clear skies
today.
My Weather Stick is smiling a little bit this morning in response to the 64% relative humidity. All three of my electronic instruments see the barometric pressure rising, and indeed it has risen. Two of my instruments forecast fair weather, while the remote weather station forecasts cloudy conditions. With the sky clear, and the breeze blowing I do not think we will see any snow showers today. It seems that it will be a bit on the cool side, but not nearly as cold as it was last year or the year before. The recorded low temperatures on my instruments overnight were 13.6°F, 14.2°F and 19.9°F.

The N.W.S. did quite well overnight since the only forecast point they missed was at 19:00 hours for the relative humidity. This was a very good job.
