A Clear Night And Not As Cold!

N.O.A.A. forecast no precipitation overnight, and very clear skies. They were right on the first count, and while I did not stay up all night to observe it I have no doubt that the sky remained clear. It was definitely clear this morning. When I finally took Ike out for his morning constitutional I was struck by the clear, cloudless sky and mild temperature. This should help to reduce the snowpack and start some sap running in the maple trees. In fact, as I understand it, temperatures a little above freezing during the day and below freezing at night are just what are needed for collecting sap to convert to maple syrup.
For today the N.W.S. forecasts clear skies (10%/1%/6%/7%), no precipitation and light winds. There are no echoes showing up on the NEXRAD regional radar. So, there are no storms in the area. The Weather Underground model forecast maps do not forecast any precipitation until late Tuesday and into Wednesday. The indication there is a more potent storm than we had on Friday. Oh well, it is still winter, and that is not going to change anytime soon.
My Weather Stick is smiling at the 61% relative humidity (09:30). The smile is even more pronounced now (12:15) at 47% relative humidity. Two of my electronic instruments forecast unsettled conditions with rising barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecasts cloudy conditions with steady barometric pressure. I think the latter is nuts. I can se no clouds, and the sun is shining brightly. That brings all three of the instruments into doubt. The barometric pressure has remained steady since I started all this earlier this morning. I think we will have a beautiful day, so if you can get outside and enjoy it. The three instruments recorded the following for the low temperatures overnight 7.3°F/9.5°F/17.6°F.
Low Temperature (°F): 7.3
Current Temperature (°F): 27.1
Relative Humidity (%): 61%
Dew Point (°F): 15.4

The N.W.S. did an excellent job with their temperature and relative humidity forecasts. They were within 5°F of the recorded temperature and within 10% of the recorded relative humidity. Congratulations to them.
