We Were Within A Degree Of Last Night!
Once again N.O.A.A. had the predominant weather correct, but they seem to have missed the mark on the cloud cover. When I took Ike out for his morning constitutional the sky was clear, but the sunrise was red. That usually means we are not very far from some foul weather. Our low temperature overnight at 8.6°F was 1°F warmer than it was yesterday morning. The wind was light and did not reduce the apparent temperature. All in all it was a reasonably decent night. It appears that my electronic instruments missed the mark for the most part overnight.
For today the N.W.S. forecasts no precipitation, but the cloud cover is expected to increase until late the afternoon (30%/43%/57%/26%) when it is supposed to decrease dramatically. The NEXRAD regional composite radar is not showing any storms in our immediate vicinity. The one echo it is showing is off the coast of New Jersey and moving away from us. The Weather Underground model forecast maps show no storms on the horizon for today, but it seems that tomorrow and Wednesday will be a different story. If the proposed storm follows the forecast track we should see some significant snow Tuesday night into Wednesday. We will see what happens with that.
My Weather Stick is expressionless this morning in response to the 77% relative humidity. All three of my electronic instruments are forecasting foul weather with falling barometric pressure. That combined with the red sky would indicate that we are headed for a rough stretch of weather. I think they are a bit premature, and that today will be decent, but things may well degenerate by tomorrow afternoon. This should be interesting. Those three electronic instruments recorded low temperatures of 8.6°F, 14.4°F
and 21.6°F.

The N.W.S. had all but the 04:00 hour temperature forecast correct. It got quite a bit colder than they predicted. The relative
humidity forecasts were all correct, or within the 10% limits that I allow. Once again, this was a pretty good job on their part.
Forecast data for today.
