Incredibly Warm Today! Yeah!
For today N.O.A.A. was correct in predicting no precipitation, but the cloud cover increasing. Right at sunset it did drop a bit making their prediction on the mark. It was a good day to be outside, and I did once again get some things done. Particularly, I was able to break out some of the wood that was frozen in the ice on my driveway that is now several inches thick in places.
For the overnight the N.W.S. forecasts no precipitation for our area, but again they are predicting an increase in the cloud cover (41%/64%/71%/74%). As I understand it this is in advance of another snowstorm. The television prognosticators are suggesting snowfalls in excess of a foot for our area and the ski areas north of us. Hey, haven't we had enough of this stuff? The NEXRAD regional composite radar does not yet show any echoes indicative of a storm moving in our direction. The Weather Underground model forecast maps are suggesting a 12 to fifteen hour event starting late tomorrow afternoon (possibly after the evening commute) and lasting into late Wednesday or early Thursday. Oh joy, joy.
My Weather Stick was smiling at 16:00 hours when I took all these readings, and that was in response to the 50% relative humidity. That is one of the lowest readings I have seen late in the afternoon for quite a while. All three of my electronic instruments are calling for foul weather with falling barometric pressure. With another snowstorm forecast for tomorrow night into Wednesday I am not surprised at that. Those same instruments have recorded the high temperatures of 44.2°F, 42.5°F and 38.1°F. I think that the instrumentation will eventually turn out to be right. This system is taking quite a while to establish itself here, and it will take quite a while to get rid of it. I do not think we are going to enjoy this one at all. It is supposed to be wet heavy snow that is not going to be easily moved. Enough said.
