Not Bad For A Snowy Day (Tongue In Cheek)!
Yesterday, last night and this morning weather forecasters, from N.O.A.A. and several radio and television stations had us receiving up to about 3" of fresh snow today. This was supposed to start before dawn and continue well into today. Well, it did not. We did have one burst of snow right around 17:00 hours, and that lasted here in Wilton, Maine for about 30 minutes. Then it was over. I did hear that Augusta had some snow, and there was some snow and mixed precipitation along the coast, but we had very little here. What we did have did not even cover the ground. We all make errors, and I probably more often than others.
For the overnight the N.W.S. forecasts light scattered snow showers for the first half and no precipitation for the rest of it. Right
now there is nothing on the NEXRAD regional composite radar in our area, and only a few snow showers in far eastern Maine. This storm turned out to be even less than I thought it would. The cloud cover is supposed to dissipate according to the N.W.S. (28%/22%/16%/17%). That would support no additional precipitation, and that is something we just do not need.
My Weather Stick is smirking at the 65% relative humidity. My La Crosse Weather Station is now calling for unsettled conditions with rising barometric pressure. The other two instruments call for foul weather with falling barometric pressure. I guess they just have not caught up with the sensor in the field. There were high temperatures here in the forties (38.3°F/42.5°F/33.6°F) or at least in the mid-thirties. I think unsettled is probably what we can expect overnight with gradual improvement.

The N.W.S. missed some of the temperature and relative humidity forecasts across the day as shown above. They did not do real well, but it was not a complete bust either.
