A Crisp Day, And Not Too Cold.

N.O.A.A. predicted no precipitation today, and they had that right. The also predicted that the cloud cover would increase somewhat over the day. They had that right too. I spent most of the day studying for my inspection tonight, but due to illness of some of the key players that did not happen.
For the overnight the N.W.S. forecasts some variable cloudiness (84%/90%/93%/86%). They are also calling for some light snow for the first half of the period, and some heavier snow for the second half. A short time ago I was outside, and was surprised to find that we were having some snow. The NEXRAD regional composite radar is showing some precipitation passing through this area of Wilton, Maine. The Weather Underground model forecast maps is showing some snow showers moving through the area, but nothing significant until sometime Saturday.
My Weather Stick is smiling for the first time in a while due to the 58% relative humidity. The electronic instruments are confused. The La Crosse Weather Station calls for fair skies and rising barometric pressure. The Min/Max Thermometer calls for unsettled conditions with falling barometric pressure. The remote weather station sees clouds with steady barometric pressure. I think we will have a little bit of intermittent snow, but there will not be very much, if any, accumulation. Watch, this will be the time for a foot of flurries just to make all the prognosticators look a bit foolish, including me. We did have high temperatures in the mid to upper thirties today (38.8°F/35.5°F/33.4°F).

The N.W.S. had half the temperature forecasts correct, on, off, on, off. They only missed the 16:00 hour relative humidity forecast. Not one of their better jobs, but not one of their worst either.
