Sky Is Clear, But Red.

N.O.A.A. called for no precipitation overnight, and clear skies. They had that part of the forecast correct. This morning I should have had my camera with me to photograph the red sky with just a few non-descript clouds to our east. The temperature did not fall quite as far as they said it would, leaving us in the mid-twenties for the overnight low. The wind, while we still have some is not as belligerent as it was yesterday. It has also reduced the level of its fangs, so that now we just have teeth. My driveway, beyond the house, is now almost completely clear of ice and snow.
The N.W.S. currently forecasts no precipitation, but some increase in the cloud cover (34%/25%/27%/24%). This is in advance of a couple storms predicted by the Weather Underground model forecast maps. These will appear to be continuous for Southern Maine, and a bit less so for our area. They are also being forecast to be mainly rain events, although they may start as snow. Southern Maine can expect them to start Friday afternoon and last until Sunday morning. The precipitation will not start until Saturday morning in this area, and will end sometime Sunday morning. That is the current forecast, but who knows what will really happen. There are currently no echoes showing up in this area on the NEXRAD regional composite radar. There is some lake effect snow east of the great lakes, but that should not affect us.
My Weather stick loves the 55% relative humidity and continues to smile at it. All three of my electronic instruments show rising barometric pressure. Two of them forecast fair skies for today, while the remote weather station forecasts unsettled weather. I think that we can expect to see fair skies for most of the day, with some potential clouds moving in later this afternoon. The temperature, if the sun stays out, should get into the mid to upper forties for highs. Overnight our low temperatures were 26.4*F, 25.6*F and 30.7*F. This should be interesting.
Low Temperature: 26.4
Current Temperature (°F): 28.0

Wind-Chill (°F): 23.6

Comparative data for the overnight.
Temperature: 27°F/27.3°F//27°F/28.0°F//23°F/28.9°F//20°F/28.5*F
Relative Humidity: 46%/46%//50%/54%//54%/54//64%/55% The N.W.S. missed two points for the temperature, and those were at 01:00 and 04:00. It seems that the N.W.S. expected the temperature to continue going down, but it stabilized. They did have all four forecasts of the relative humidity correct.
Forecast data for today.
Temperature: 28°F/41°F/46°F/49°F.
Relative Humidity: 50%/31%/25%/29%

Yup - yesterday it was so windy that your teeth were sandblasted if you smiled outside!
