We Woke To No Better Weather This Morning!
My instruments and N.O.A.A. forecast foul weather all night, and they got that one right. When I first checked the rain gauge it showed 0.12" of rain, and since then we have had another 0.02" of rain. There appears to be plenty of fog around as well. The temperatures overnight stayed right around the freezing mark (31.8°F/32.6°F/35.4°F) making it difficult to tell if we had rain or snow for the precipitation. Last night around 23:00 hours it was snowing, but I suspect that we had some rain which melted the snow in the rain gauge. For today the N.W.S. forecasts scattered light rain showers for the first half of the period, and after noon we are not expected to have any additional precipitation. There is a break in the action on the NEXRAD regional composite radar, and once this next batch gets through here we should see things begin to clear up. The Weather Underground model forecast maps indicate that this whole mess should be east of us a little after noon as well.
My weather stick continues to frown at the 89% relative humidity. All three of my electronic instruments forecast foul weather still, and falling barometric pressure as well. That seems to be in keeping with the reality that I see outside. The fog currently does not allow sufficient visibility to see the hills to my west. So far we are still experiencing the same dismal weather we had yesterday. I am not sure if I mentioned it or not, but some of the small branches that have fallen from my weeping willow trees show the buds are beginning to swell, and that is a hopeful sign that spring will eventually arrive. The only question at this point is "When?"

The N.W.S. only missed the 20:00 hour forecast for the relative humidity. This was a much better job than they did yesterday. It seems they can get them right every once in a while. Good job folks.
