November 2006 Summary
As a general observation this has been a warm month. We have not had a lot of sun, but we have not had a lot of rain either. It has been either cloudy and warm or cloudy and cold. The weather certainly has not been conducive to getting outside for the deer hunt, or for getting things done in preparation for winter.
It appears that we had even fewer hours of sunlight during November than we did in October. 20 of our mornings were overcast or mostly cloudy, and 17 of our afternoons were the same. I think we are again in need of some sunshine to improve our attitudes.

And Most Of The Day
The fog did not clear until almost 15:30 hours. That was some tenacious fog. The sky did not clear completely, although the sun did shine for a little while between the clouds. Looking in the distance it was possible to see some showers, but we did not have any here. The cloud cover also remained consistent with the forecast. The table of temperature and relative humidity data comparing the forecast to the actual is next.
Temperature: 43°F/43°F//49°F/46°F//54°F/53°F//53°F/52°F:
Relative Humidity: 89%/93%//86%/93%//83%/92%///80%/90%:
N.O.A.A. did very well predicting the temperature, but as usual they did not do as well predicting the relative humidity.
The N.O.A.A. forecast for the overnight is for rain by 19:00 hours continuing all night, with a cloud cover of 89% to 98%. The temperature is not expected to change very much, and if you feel like you are developing gills it may be because the air is saturated or nearly so, as you can see from the tabulated forecast data shown next.
Temperature: 49°F/46°F/45°F/44°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/100%/100%/100%:
My Weather Stick, surprise of surprises, points down. I say that because the relative humidity is 90% or greater. My electronic instruments, once again, agree. They all forecast foul weather with deteriorating barometric pressure. From this data and the Weather Underground model forecast map as well as the NEXRAD composite radar I too expect inclement weather sometime this evening. Sounds like a wild ride tonight.

The Fog Resided All Night
The weather is starting dark, damp and dismal this morning. We have the fog that was predicted and heavy cloud cover as well. How dark is the inside of a pocket? If you look outside now (06:12) you will know. It appears that N.O.A.A. got this half of the forecast right. The temperature and relative humidity comparison table follows.
Temperature: 44°F/40°F//43°F/43°F//42°F/43°F//42°F/42°F:
Relative Humidity: 89%/92%//96%/93%//96%/93%///89%/93%:
This is the best performance I have seen from N.O.A.A. in quite a while. Good job folks.
For today N.O.A.A. forecasts scattered light showers for the area. The cloud cover is expected to remain in the low nineties to mid-eighties. The temperature and relative humidity forecast follows.
Temperature: 43°F/49°F/54°F/53°F:
Relative Humidity: 89%/86%/83%/80%:
These temperatures are expected to be well above normal, but from the look of the Weather Underground model map this may be the last of the above normal temperatures we have for a while.
My Weather Stick points down, and with 93% relative humidity that is no surprise at all. Two of the electronic instruments predict deteriorating barometric pressure with inclement weather. The remote weather station predicts clouds and deteriorating barometric pressure. On the basis of the deteriorating barometric pressure and cloud cover, I would expect some inclement weather during the day, some light winds and another dismal day.

The Fog Is Moving In
We have had another one of our gray dismal days. We started out with frizzle, and now that has turned to fog. There just is not a great deal more to say about the day, other than N.O.A.A. did get the weather and cloud cover about right. The ice finally did melt in my rain gauge yielding the 0.08 inches of precipitation. The temperature and relative humidity (forecast v actual) are detailed in the table, which follows.
Temperature: 31°F/32°F//41°F/33°F//48°F/38°F//47°F/39°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/91%//79%/91%//68%/90%///74%/91%:
Something, obviously, went wrong with the forecast for both the temperature and relative humidity. N.O.A.A. missed the mark on both of them. I wonder if they can get it right, since they calculated that the system would move faster than it did.
The cloud cover for tonight is still expected to be in the nineties, and we are forecast to have fog all night. The tabulation for the temperature and relative humidity forecast follows.
Temperature: 44°F/43°F/42°F/42°F:
Relative Humidity: 89%/96%/96%/89%:
The temperature is not expected to change very much due to the fog and cloud cover, and the relative humidity is expected to remain steady as well. My weather stick points down, trying to make a circle. The three electronic instruments are forecasting continued foul weather with deteriorating barometric pressure. My suspicion is the same. We can expect fog, overcast, little or no wind and a chance for light showers. The showers will be scattered, so whether you get one or not depends on your location and the location of the shower.

Mixed Frozen And Liquid Precipitation
Overnight we have had, and are continuing to have, frizzle. Parts of my vehicle are ice coated, and parts are just wet. There is some ice forming on the puddles in the driveway, but there is liquid on places in the lawn. It depends on your location if you have ice, rain falling, or a mix. This is a very tough call. The cloud cover has been at or near 100% all night, and it appears to be remaining so for the near future. The temperature and relative humidity are detailed next.
Temperature: 31°F/30°F//30°F/31°F//30°F/31°F//31°F/31°F:
Relative Humidity: 92%/90%//85%/90%//78%/90%///77%/90%:
N.O.A.A. really did hit the mark with the temperature forecast, but the relative humidity is close only at the beginning of the forecast period. I guess they will just have to try again.
According to N.O.A.A., again, the daylight hours are supposed to remain gray, but get a little lighter. They are also predicting that we will continue with light scattered rain showers. The operative word is rain. The temperature is supposed to rise above freezing as it is detailed below.
Temperature: 31°F/41°F/48°F/47°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/79%/68%/74%:
As noted in an earlier report, the precipitation has taken its time to get here, and it is taking its time to leave.
My Weather Stick points down and it is almost making a complete circle. The electronic instruments do not seem to want to agree. The Weather Station Console predicts fair skies with improving barometric pressure. The Min/Max Thermometer predicts rain with deteriorating barometric pressure. Finally the remote weather station predicts fair skies with deteriorating barometric pressure. My best guess from all this data is that the weather will remain unsettled, the temperatures will warm up a bit over yesterday and we will have another dismal day. This month the weather has been strange, and that is normal.

Frozen Precipitation All Day
The temperature was just right to have frozen precipitation all day. It has clogged the funnel on my rain gauge, and nothing has been reported here. I will check it in the morning to see if it will thaw and then report it. For those of you not familiar with the scientific term "frizzle" that is frozen drizzle. N.O.A.A.'s prediction for the predominant weather today was mixed frozen precipitation, and that is exactly what we had. The cloud cover remained nearly complete all day. The temperature and relative humidity data collected today is detailed next.
Temperature: 33°F/32°F//37°F/34°F//39°F/31°F//38°F/31°F:
Relative Humidity: 78%/83%//70%/82%//64%/86%///67%/89%:
Despite N.O.A.A.'s prediction the temperature never made it over thirty-five degrees, so once again they missed the mark. They did not do any better with the relative humidity; in fact they did much worse.
The predominant weather is predicted to be ice all night, with a cloud cover all night of 100%. The temperature is not expected to change much, but the relative humidity is predicted to fall as detailed below.
Temperature: 31°F/30°F/30°F/31°F:
Relative Humidity: 92%/85%/78%/77%:
I do not think any further comment is necessary.
My Weather Stick is almost curled back on itself, and with 90% humidity that is no surprise. Unbelievably the three electronic instruments are in agreement, they are wrong, but they do agree. Apparently we have a high-pressure system over us, and probably an upper level low causing the frozen precipitation. Oh, the three instruments are calling for fair skies with improving barometric pressure. I think the frizzle will continue overnight, and that will make for a very interesting commute tomorrow morning.

Rain Is Just Starting
It is 05:30 hours, and I have just come in from exercising Bart. We are currently seeing some very light precipitation, but there has not yet been enough to measure. It may take a while before that happens. N.O.A.A. did forecast some light mixed precipitation overnight, but at thirty-four degrees it is not mixed, only rain. The cloud cover percentage is definitely in the nineties. The usual tabulation of the temperature and relative humidity follows:
Temperature: 43°F/44°F//39°F/41°F//36°F/37°F//34°F/36°F:
Relative Humidity: 76%/74%//85%/78%//82%/85%//82%/86%:
The N.O.A.A. temperature forecast was very close to the actual for our area, missing the point by not more than two degrees. The relative humidity, with the exception of the 20:00 data point, was within three percent. The outlier was out by seven percent.
For today N.O.A.A. forecasts a gray day with light, scattered mixed precipitation. The cloud cover will start at 93%, increase to 96% and then to 100% where it will remain for the rest of the day. The temperature is forecast to remain in the thirties and that information with the relative humidity forecast is detailed next.
Temperature: 33°F/37°F/39°F/38°F:
Relative Humidity: 78%/70%/64%/67%:
It is a big surprise that my Weather Stick points down. Despite the fact that we are currently having some precipitation the three electronic instruments indicate fair skies with improving barometric pressure. I guess if I believe that someone could sell me a bridge in Brooklyn, N.Y., or some ocean frontage in Arizona. From what I can see outside it appears that we will have some precipitation, clouds, raw temperatures, light winds and in general a rather unpleasant day.

Still No Precipitation
N.O.A.A. keeps predicting some form of precipitation, and the sky gnomes keep refusing to give it up. Sooner or later the predictions will be correct. It has remained cloudy all day, and the current clouds are called rain layer clouds. The temperature has remained above freezing since sometime yesterday morning. I can remember ice-skating at Thanksgiving, but it has not happened for the past few years. The temperature comparison follows.
Temperature: 36°F/38°F//42°F/47°F//46°F/53°F//44°F/46°F:
Relative Humidity: 82%/84%//73%/78%//71%/64%//73%/71%:
N.O.A.A. missed the mark on the temperature forecast for the middle part of the day. Their forecast for the relative humidity was a little better, but it still did not hit the mark across the whole day.
The Weather Underground model map and the N.O.A.A. forecast are calling for some light precipitation overnight. The cloud cover is forecast to remain in the upper nineties all night. The forecast temperature and humidity are tabulated next. It should be noted that the temperature is not forecast to go below freezing tonight.
Temperature: 43°F/39°F/36°F/34°F:
Relative Humidity: 76%/85%/82%/82%:
My Weather Stick points slightly down. Two of the electronic instruments forecast deteriorating barometric pressure and rain. The remote weather station predicts deteriorating barometric pressure and a mix of fair and cloudy skies. I think I will discount this last predictions and stick with the others. The call, then, is for some light rain, above normal temperatures, light winds and overcast skies. As far as the rain, it may be scattered, so we may or may not get any.

No Rain Yet
It is almost warm outside. The sky is overcast, and there has been no rain, therefore it appears that N.O.A.A. got that part of the forecast correct. The temperature and relative humidity are detailed next.
Temperature: 42°F/34°F//40°F/36°F//38°F/37°F//37°F/38°F:
Relative Humidity: 73%/82%//79%/81%//82%/84%//82%/82%:
The forecast temperatures were closer to the actual as the night wore on, but they did not start out very well. With the exception of the initial forecast relative humidity at 19:00 hours the forecast and actual relative humidity were very close.
For today N.O.A.A. predicts light scattered showers over our area with cloud cover in the mid to high eighty percent range. As I look outside I can believe that. The temperature and relative humidity forecasts certainly support that forecast as you can see below.
Temperature: 36°F/42°F/46°F/44°F:
Relative Humidity: 82%/73%/71%/73%:
My Weather Stick points down. Are you surprised at that? The electronic instruments are all calling for a mix of clouds and sun today, but they cannot agree on the change in air pressure. The Weather Station Console predicts the pressure will deteriorate. The Min/Max Thermometer predicts that it will improve, and the remote weather station sees the pressure deteriorating. My best guess is that we will have unsettled weather, a possibility of light showers, warmer than normal temperatures and a low-pressure system moving in.

Still More Clouds This Evening
We seem to be moving from a stretch of delightful, but cool weather to warmer temperatures with a great deal of cloud cover. All day these clouds have been moving in. As I remember, the longer the inclement weather takes to get here, the longer it will take for it to leave. This system seems to be taking its own sweet time. We have not had any rain today, but the cloud cover is much higher than it was forecast to be. The temperature and relative humidity data collected at this station are compared with the forecast data next.
Temperature: 24°F/22°F//40°F/34°F//50°F/42°F//47°F/42°F:
Relative Humidity: 88%/86%//55%/84%/46%/69%//53%/70%:
Neither the temperature nor the relative humidity forecasts were particularly close to the actual recorded data by my weather station.
There is no precipitation predicted for this area, though there may be some north of us, and it will be of the frozen variety. The cloud cover is expected range from the mid-sixties to about 81% by morning. The temperature and relative humidity forecasts are tabulated next.
Temperature: 42°F/40°F/38°F/37°F:
Relative Humidity: 73%/79%/82%/82%:
My Weather Stick points down. The electronic instruments do not seem to be able to agree at all. The Weather Station Console predicts deteriorating barometric pressure and partly cloudy skies. The Min/Max Thermometer predicts partly cloudy skies, but the barometric pressure is forecast to improve. The remote weather station comes in with fair skies and a steady barometer. With all this indecision the best I can come up with is unsettled weather, cloudy skies, light winds and somewhat warmer temperatures. In other words I have no clue what the weather will do overnight.

More Clouds This Morning
I looked at the NEXRAD composite radar, the satellite map, the Weather Underground model map and the N.O.A.A. forecast graphic maps, and I could not see any clouds on any of them for our area. When it became light enough I looked outside and found the sky to be partly cloudy with cirrus clouds. The temperature is in the low twenties, but the wind is calm, so the temperature you feel is the one recorded on the thermometer. We had no precipitation overnight, and the cloud cover appears to be close to the forecast level. The temperature and relative humidity data is tabulated next.
Temperature: 34°F/28°F//30°F/27°F//27°F/27°F//25°F/23°F:
Relative Humidity: 64%/65%//85%/81%//88%/85%//92%/86%:
The greatest difference between the forecast and actual temperature was six degrees. The rest of the data was very close to the forecast data. The largest difference between the forecast and actual relative humidity was six percent, the rest being much closer than that. This comparison is quite favorable this morning.
The N.O.A.A. forecast is calling for some fog in our area early this morning, but I have not seen it yet. Once that fog (if it happens) burns off there is not supposed to be any precipitation. The cloud cover is predicted to remain moderate, in the mid-forties to mid-fifties (45%/44%/44%/55%). The temperature and relative humidity forecast data is tabulated next.
Temperature: 24°F/40°F/50°F/47°F:
Relative Humidity: 88%/55%/46%/53%:
Assuming the forecast is accurate, we should have a very pleasant day.
My Weather Stick points down, and with the relative humidity over 85% that is no surprise. My Weather Station Console and the remote weather station predict partly cloudy skies with deteriorating barometric pressure. The Min/Max Thermometer predicts rain. We seem to be heading into a period of unsettled weather, and I will just leave it at that. Note the red sky this morning!

Cloudy In The West
The crescent moon is visible, though it looks like it is being seen through frosted glass. This is due to the altocumulus clouds that are present west of us. Straight overhead, north, east and south of us the sky appears to be clear. We had no precipitation today and the cloud cover remained very low. The temperature even made it up over 50 degrees, and that is unusual for this time of year. The temperature and relative humidity (forecast v actual) are presented next.
Temperature: 22°F/19°F//36°F/34°F//45°F/48°F//42°F/42°F:
Relative Humidity: 68%/85%//45%/69%//29%/36%//36%/42%:
The forecast temperatures were very close to the actual temperatures today. The same cannot be said for the relative humidity forecast. N.O.A.A. still needs to work on their forecasting of that parameter.
For the overnight there is no precipitation predicted. The cloud cover is forecast to increase to a maximum of 48%, and that still is not bad.
Temperature: 34°F/30°F/27°F/25°F:
Relative Humidity: 64%/85%/88%/92%:
We will check the accuracy of these data points in the morning.
My Weather Stick points slightly up in response to the lower relative humidity. The Min/Max Thermometer and remote weather station predict that we will have mixed skies with deteriorating barometric pressure. The Weather Station Console is still calling for fair skies with improving barometric pressure. My observation seems to indicate that we will have some clouds mixing with the fair skies, cool temperatures and no precipitation for the overnight.

Still Starry Sky This Morning
Another period of clear weather, not that we deserve it or anything like that. We have put up with a great deal of cloudy and inclement weather, even though we have only had 3.79 inches of rain so far this month. We still deserve some nice weather. The predominant weather was correctly predicted by N.O.A.A. and even the cloud cover was correctly forecast. The table of temperatures and relative humidities is detailed as usual.
Temperature: 36°F/37°F//32°F/30°F//27°F/24°F//24°F/21°F:
Relative Humidity: 50%/49%//56%/56%//63%/70%//65%/83%:
With the exception of the forecast relative humidity at 04:00 hours the actual and forecast data are very close. This is the best I have seen N.O.A.A. do with their forecast data since I began to monitor it.
There is no rain forecast for the daylight hours today, and the cloud cover is expected to remain very low. The temperature and relative humidity forecast data is detailed next as usual.
Temperature: 22°F/36°F/45°F/42°F:
Relative Humidity: 68%/45%/29%/36%.
My Weather Stick points slightly down in response to the 84% relative humidity. Once again, all three of the electronic instruments forecast fair skies and improving barometric pressure. Wow, the weather has been just about perfect for the holiday weekend for both the travelers and the hunters. We can certainly accept a few of these halcyon days before we get into winter. We had better enjoy these days; they may be the last we get until spring.

Starry, Starry Night!
We have had clear skies for a whole day, and that has been most unusual. I cannot remember a longer period of time when that has occurred. It has been nice, particularly since this is a holiday weekend. N.O.A.A. and the Weather Underground model maps had the predominant weather correct, and the prediction for the cloud cover was very close to the actual, or maybe just a little high. The temperature and relative humidity comparison is, as usual tabulated next.
Temperature: 27°F/32°F//38°F/45°F//46°F/51°F//43°F/46°F:
Relative Humidity: 81%/72%//51%/79%//37%/40%//41%/39%:
The closest the forecast temperature was to the actual was five degrees, and that is not as good as the predictions have been lately. The relative humidity never got closer than three percent, and that was only at 01:00 hours. The rest of the predictions missed the mark by a country mile.
The current prediction for the predominant weather is for no precipitation overnight. N.O.A.A. further predicts that the cloud cover will continue to decrease to 3% by 01:00 hours. The temperature and relative humidity projections for the overnight are detailed next.
Temperature: 36°F/32°F/27°F/24°F:
Relative Humidity: 50%/56%/63%/65%:
It seems that we are going to have a cold night again.
My Weather Stick points up, and with relative humidity at 64% that is reasonable. All three electronic instruments predict fair skies with improving barometric pressure. Now, that is unusual. Based on all the data in my possession the only conclusion I can come to is that the high-pressure system is currently firmly in control, and that we will have a clear, cold night with no precipitation.

This morning dawned very bright with no clouds to be seen. The temperature has warmed quickly into the forties, and the wind has picked up as well. N.O.A.A. got the weather right, but the cloud cover seems to be much lower that the forecast. Right now (09:00 hours) the sun is shining brightly and the wind is light out of the north. The overnight temperature and relative humidity results are tabulated next.
Temperature: 31°F/36°F//33°F/33°F//31°F/30°F//32°F/27°F:
Relative Humidity: 58%/69%//61%/76%//53%/81%//56%/87%:
The temperature started out five degrees low and ended the overnight forecast five degrees high. I would guess that was because the cloud cover was less than the forecast allowing for more radiational cooling. The relative humidity was not even close to the forecast.
For today, the expectation is for no precipitation, and the cloud cover will decrease from 17% to13% to 9% to 8%. The sky looks clear to me. The projected temperature and relative humidity are detailed in the following table:
Temperature: 27°F/38°F/46°F/43°F:
Relative Humidity: 81%/51%/37%/41%:
It appears that N.O.A.A. predicts an absolutely delightful day.
My Weather Stick points slightly up, and with the relative humidity at 58% that response is appropriate. I might have expected it to be pointing up more, but this is all right. The electronic instruments are not quite in agreement. The Weather Station Console as well as the other two instruments forecast continued high pressure. The predominant weather is forecast to be mixed sun and clouds by the Weather Station Console and remote weather station. The Min/Max Thermometer forecasts rain. I hardly know who to believe at this point. Again, from what I see outside I surmise that we will have clear skies, light winds and moderate temperatures.

A Bit of Sadness
When a death occurs, it is always sad, but when it occurs at the holidays, it is even more so. Today our old Nanny Goat, Oreo, passed from this life. She was kidded in March of 1989, which made her 17 years old. She had not had kids in several years, but she took care of the newborn kids, and even produced milk for them. She was the last of our original tribe, and she will be missed. Our younger daughter showed her in a number of 4-H goat shows.

Oreo, May You Rest In Peace
Rest well Oreo, you will be missed.
Now to the weather. We did not have any precipitation here, and the cloud cover remained between 70 and 95%. I have tabulated the temperature and relative humidity as usual
Temperature: 23°F/22°F//35°F/37°F//43°F/41°F//41°F/40°F:
Relative Humidity: 74%/87%//56%/77%//49%/57%//53%/62%:
N.O.A.A. did quite well with the temperature forecast, but terrible with the relative humidity forecast. Oh well, what can I say other than try again folks.
For the overnight, the prediction started with light scattered showers clearing out by 22:00 hours and no precipitation after that. The cloud cover is forecast to be 68%/59%/50% and end at 34% at 04:00 hours. The temperature and relative humidity forecasts are detailed next.
Temperature: 31°F/33°F/31°F/32°F:
Relative Humidity: 58%/61%/53%/56%:
My Weather Stick points straight out even though the relative humidity is at 80%. All three of the electronic instruments are forecasting deteriorating barometric pressure. The Weather Station Console and Min/Max Thermometer are forecasting cloudy skies with rain, and the remote weather station forecasts just clouds. There seems to be a mix of factors here. I would suggest that we may have some scattered showers in the area early on, but due to the cloud cover, the temperature will not fall into the twenties, as it has recently

A Bit of Sadness
Happy Thanksgiving!
As I suggested earlier in the week we do not need the horse and sleigh to get to grandmother's house today, at least in this area. We had no precipitation overnight, but it appears the clouds have moved in over us. They are only cirrus clouds, but that usually means that there is some precipitation in our near future. The usual tabulation of the forecast v actual temperature and relative humidity follow:
Temperature: 35°F/28°F//31°F/25°F//29°F/23°F//26°F/21°F:
Relative Humidity: 54%/65%//66%/82%//72%/85%//71%/86%:
Overnight N.O.A.A. got the forecast temperature no closer than five degrees to the actual readings. The relative humidity missed the mark completely.
For today, we are starting out with no precipitation, but by 10:00 hours, we will be on the line with scattered showers just over us or just south of us. The cloud cover is predicted to be 30%/33%/35 and 47%. As usual, I have presented the forecast temperature and relative humidity next:
Temperature: 23°F/35°F/43°F/41°F:
Relative Humidity: 74%/56%/49%/53%:
Right now (09:30 hours) the relative humidity is 83% and the temperature is 34.8, so there is agreement on the temperature, but not with the relative humidity. We will see how the rest of the day compares.
My Weather Stick points down, and that is, once again, a no-brainer. As noted earlier, we are sitting on a line between no precipitation and some light, scattered showers; therefore, the Min/Max Thermometer predicts deteriorating barometric pressure and rain. The Weather Station Console and remote weather station predict fair skies today. Their forecast for barometric pressure does differ, and the Weather Station Console predicts improving pressure, while the remote weather station predicts steady atmospheric pressure. I suspect that we will have a mix of sun and clouds today with a chance later today for some light and scattered showers.

Sky Cleared And Still Cold
We have been in and out of the clouds all day, and right now, we are out of them. The nighttime sky looks like a piece of black velvet with a bright light behind it showing the stars and constellations. The air is crisp with a real feel of late autumn. N.O.A.A. and the Weather Underground model map got the daytime predominant weather correct, but they seem to have missed the mark on the cloud cover. I have tabulated the temperature and relative humidity data comparison next:
Temperature: 17°F/21°F//35°F/32°F//46°F/46°F//43°F/40°F:
Relative Humidity: 84%/87%//48%/77%//31%/43%//35%/46%:
Once again, the temperature forecast data is very close to the actual temperature recorded by my weather station. The relative humidity, however, missed the mark, with the exception of the 07:00 hours report.
N.O.A.A. and the Weather Underground maps predict no precipitation overnight, and the cloud cover expected to be 36%/33%/24% then rising to 41% by 04:00 hours. The proposed temperature and relative humidity levels are expected to be as follows:
Temperature: 35°F/31°F/29°F/26°F:
Relative Humidity: 54%/66%/72%/71%:
Once again, we will find out about the accuracy of the forecast tomorrow morning.
My Weather Stick points slightly down as a result of the 84% relative humidity. I wonder if it will point up if the relative humidity is in the 30% range overnight? The Weather Station Console and Min/Max Thermometer indicate improving barometric pressure, but the remote weather station predicts steady pressure. Both the Weather Station Console and remote weather station forecast fair skies, while the Min/Max Thermometer forecasts mixed conditions with some fair skies and some clouds. My own guess is that we will not have any precipitation, it will remain below freezing, the winds will remain calm to light and variable and the clouds may build toward morning.

Starting Out Gray Again
The clear sky we had yesterday afternoon has turned gray with clouds again. The barometer reached another high for the month overnight at 30.43 in Hg. Despite the high pressure, we again have clouds and the threat of inclement weather. N.O.A.A. and the Weather Underground model map had the predominant weather correct again, but I fear the cloud cover forecast was far below the actual cloud cover. The comparative data (forecast v actual) for temperature and relative humidity are tabulated next:
Temperature: 33°F/26°F//28°F/25°F//23°F/22°F//19°F/20°F:
Relative Humidity: 43%/70%//48%/81%//54%/84%//67%/87%:
The evening started out with a difference of seven degrees, but that difference was reduced to one to two degrees by morning. The relative humidity forecast was not even close to the actual data recorded by my weather station.
For today, the N.W.S. forecasts no precipitation, and the cloud cover is supposed to be 24%/19%14% and13%. Outside my house right now I am seeing significantly more that the 24% that was forecast. The forecast data for temperature and relative humidity are tabulated below:
Temperature: 17°F/35°F/46°F/43°F:
Relative Humidity: 84%/48%/31%/35%:
I am not sure if N.O.A.A. has this one right at all. We will need to wait until this afternoon to determine that.
My Weather Stick points down in response to the relative humidity being over 85%. The Weather Station Console and remote weather station forecast fair skies. The Min/Max Thermometer forecasts a mix of sun and clouds. The Min/Max Thermometer predicts the barometric pressure will deteriorate, as does the remote weather station. The only electronic instrument at this location predicting improving barometric pressure is the Weather Station Console. I expect to see some unsettled weather today as a result of what I see outside.

Clear Skies, Cold Air

The Sun Goes Down And There Are No Clouds This Evening
With the radiational cooling we have tonight, we may well see temperatures in the teens. Get out the feather comforter, and throw another log on the fire. The clouds have continued to dissipate all day, until now we are left with no visible clouds. N.O.A.A. and the Weather Underground model maps certainly have it right for the predominant weather today. The cloud cover seems to have been a little backward with the 0% occurring this afternoon. I have tabulated the forecast/actual temperature and relative humidity data next:
Temperature: 22°F/27°F//34°F/34°F//41°F/41°F//38°F/38°F:
Relative Humidity: 88%/75%//50%/59%//34%/45%//40%/45%:
This morning's temperature was a bit higher than the forecast, but the actual and forecast temperatures agreed for the rest of the day. The relative humidity predictions were not quite as good with the forecast relative humidity being off from 5 to 13%.
For the overnight the Weather Underground model map and N.O.A.A. predictions call for no precipitation overnight. The cloud cover is not expected to exceed 30%. The forecast temperature and relative humidity are tabulated next:
Temperature: 33°F/28°F/23°F/19°F:
Relative Humidity: 43%/48%/54%/67%:
This is the first time this season that we are forecast to dip into the teens overnight, but I am sure it will not be the last. It appears that the relative humidity is also forecast to be quite low overnight.
My Weather Stick, in response to the low humidity, points slightly up. All three of the electronic instruments forecast improving barometric pressure with fair skies. How can I argue with that? I saw no clouds at sunset, and it was getting cold enough for a jacket. I have drained the hose, but I am not sure it was enough. It is not even 19:00 hours and the temperature is almost 27°F.

The Temperature Is Down, The Pressure Up
The barometric pressure has increased significantly since yesterday. At the same time, the temperature has taken a nosedive. It is definitely crisp and cold outside this morning. The ground is beginning to freeze, so if you have driveways to mark you might want to consider getting that done today. N.O.A.A. had the predominant weather correct and the cloud cover as well. The temperature and relative humidity comparisons (forecast v reality) are tabulated next:
Temperature: 33°F/28°F//29°F/25°F//25°F/28°F//23°F/28°F:
Relative Humidity: 56%/73%//68%/74%//81%/69%//88%/67%:
The N.O.A.A. predictions for the temperature were within five degrees across the evening. The relative humidity forecast started out low and ended high when compared to the actual data. I will continue monitoring this information.
The predominant weather forecast by the Weather Underground model map and N.O.A.A. is for no precipitation during the day, and the cloud cover to be quite low (0%/12%/23%/23%) for the daylight hours. The tabulation of the forecast temperature and relative humidity for today is detailed next:
Temperature: 22°F/34°F/41°F/38°F:
Relative Humidity: 88%/50%/34%/40%:
If these forecast numbers prove to be accurate, this will be one of the "driest" days we have seen since last winter. We will find out this afternoon how it turns out.
My weather stick, this morning, points slightly down indicating the slightly lower humidity. All three of my electronic instruments forecast fair skies with improving barometric pressure. What I see outside my windows certainly confirms that. My guess is that we will have a delightful late autumn day. If you can, do get outside and enjoy it.

Are You Ready For The Chill To Reside
As the sun started to go down this afternoon so did the temperature. I suspect that the warm weather is now behind us, and we have winter on its way. We did deal with a mix of sun and clouds today, and the temperature just barely broke forty degrees.
As The Sun Goes Down, So Does The Temperature
I think the cloud cover was pretty close to what N.O.A.A. forecast, and we did not have any precipitation, mixed or otherwise. The temperature and relative humidity data are detailed next:
Temperature: 31°F/30°F//38°F/38°F//43°F/38°F//41°F/32°F:
Relative Humidity: 81%/80%//56%/61%//45%/58%//45%/62%:
The temperature and relative humidity comparison started out well, but differed during the afternoon. This is, after all, autumn, and things can change very quickly.
For today, the forecast by N.O.A.A. is for no precipitation and the cloud cover dropping from 70% this evening to 25% by 01:00 and then increasing to 34% by 04:00 hours. The temperature and relative humidity forecast data are tabulated next:
Temperature: 33°F/29°F/25°F/23°F:
Relative Humidity: 56%/68%/81%/88%:
It does appear that their forecast is for one cold night, and a very clear one.
My Weather Stick points straight out, and the relative humidity at 60% supports that. All three of the electronic instruments are forecasting improving barometric pressure. The Weather Station Console and Min/Max Thermometer predict fair skies, while the remote weather station forecasts clouds for the overnight. We may have some clouds, but I think that for the most part, we will have clear skies, and it will be quite cold. I do not think we will need the horse and sleigh to get to Grandmother's house for Thanksgiving, but I do believe it will be much more seasonable.

The Chill Is Moving In
Despite the predictions by N.O.A.A, we have not had any precipitation here. The cloud cover, when I went outside, was significantly less than the predicted 94%. The barometric pressure has deteriorated since last night, but it has not triggered the Weather Station Console to change its forecast. That may come later. The temperature and relative humidity data for the overnight period is detailed next::
Temperature: 34°F/36°F//31°F/34°F//30°F/34°F//29°F/33°F:
Relative Humidity: 96%/72%//88%/71%//88%/75%//92/74%:
The temperature for the overnight was slightly higher than the predictions by N.O.A.A., but not more than three or four degrees. The relative humidity differed significantly from that forecast by N.O.A.A. They will keep trying to predict the future, and I will continue to compare their predictions to reality for our area.
The National Weather Service (N.O.A.A.) is calling for us to have some light, scattered, mixed precipitation during the day with the cloud cover forecast to be 85%/80%/74%/ and 72%. It will be interesting to see how this forecast compares to reality. The temperature and relative humidity forecast is detailed next:
Temperature: 31°F/38°F/43°F/41°F:
Relative Humidity: 81%/56%/45%/45%:
If the predicted temperatures reflect reality, then the precipitation, if we have any, should be rain. I am not convinced that we will have any precipitation.
My Weather Stick points slightly down, indicating that we have slightly lower humidity than we have been in the morning. There does not seem to be any agreement among my electronic instruments. My Weather Station Console forecasts improving barometric pressure with fair skies. The Min/Max Thermometer forecasts deteriorating barometric pressure with unsettled skies, and the remote weather station indicates deteriorating barometric pressure with cloudy skies. Which of these instruments has it right? From what I can see the stratocumulus clouds have moved back in, we are now mostly cloudy to overcast and the temperature is rising. All this indicates that we are in for some unsettled weather, and a possibility of some precipitation (I still doubt it).

Cloudy, Cold And Damp It Is.
If the sky looks like anything, it looks like snow. The temperature is approaching the right area, the sky is overcast, the humidity is right and the barometric pressure is falling, therefore we could have some snow. There, I have said it! I found that the N.O.A.A. information had changed from this morning, and there may have been some scattered mixed precipitation in the area. We did not have any here, but it feels like we could. The cloud cover was 100% all afternoon, and that has not changed. The temperature and relative humidity comparisons between the forecast and actual data are tabulated next:
Temperature: 31°F/33°F//37°F/38°F//41°F/41°F//39°F/39°F:
Relative Humidity: 96%/91%//64%/84%//57%/70%//67/72%:
The temperature data could not get much closer, but the relative humidity data still leave something to be desired. Maybe they will get it right at N.O.A.A. yet.
For the overnight N.O.A.A. predicts snow, although I suspect it will be of the light variety if we have any at all. The cloud cover is expected to remain nearly complete, certainly above 95%. The temperature and relative humidity forecasts are detailed next for the overnight:
Temperature: 34°F/31°F/30°F/29°F:
Relative Humidity: 96%/88%/88%/92%:
This should prove to be interesting, if it is accurate.
My Weather Stick has finally moved off down to slightly down, and I blame the relative humidity for that. My Weather Station Console forecasts fair skies and improving relative humidity, (I do not believe it). The Min/Max Thermometer predicts unsettled weather with falling barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecasts clouds with deteriorating barometric pressure. I tend to think (something I probably should not do) that we may see some precipitation scattered around the are, and because of the temperature, it will not be rain. I have been known to be wrong, however.

Temperature Rose As Clouds Rolled In
Description
"Our low temperature occurred at 23:55 hours last night. At that point, the clouds must have rolled in acting like a blanket to hold the heat in. We actually had the temperature rise from then until after sunrise. This morning we have not had any precipitation, and the cloud cover appears to be complete. N.O.A.A. got the predominant weather correct, but the cloud cover is significantly higher than they predicted. The usual tabulation of the temperature record and relative humidity record is next:
Temperature: 38°F/34°F//34°F/29°F//32°F/28°F//30°F/31°F:
Relative Humidity: 73%/84%//85%/87%//92%/89%//96/91%:
N.O.A.A.'s predictions on both the temperature and relative humidity were much better than the predictions for yesterday afternoon.
For today, the N.O.A.A. and Weather Underground model maps forecast no precipitation. Although N.O.A.A. does forecast the cloud cover to rise from 55% to 100%, to 100% and finally to 100% . These numbers have been changed since i did the report this morning. The temperature and relative humidity predictions for today are tabulated next (they were changed also):
Temperature: 31°F/37°F/41°F/39°F:
Relative Humidity: 96%/64%/57%/67%:
I am not sure how these will show up when compared with the actual recorded data later this afternoon.
My Weather Sick is in, what has become, its usual position lately, and that is down. The Weather Station Console and Min/Max Thermometer predict fair skies with improving barometric pressure. The remote weather station is showing steady barometric pressure with cloudy skies predicted. My suspicion is that the clouds will be around for a while, but there will be little or no precipitation. Further, I am seeing some drop in the barometric pressure, and that may not bode well for the weather for the week."Low Temperature (°F): 28.0

Didn't The Temperature Fall
From the mid-fifties and high forties to the mid to upper twenties the temperature has fallen. We have gone from late summer to early winter in a heartbeat. We had no precipitation today, therefore we can accept the N.O.A.A. forecast for that. The Weather Underground model map also had it correct. I would estimate the cloud cover in the low to mid-forty percent range. The data for the temperature and relative humidity are tabulated next:
Temperature: 40°F/34°F//46°F/44°F//49°F/51°F//41°F/44°F:
Relative Humidity: 76%/84%//58%/69%//50%/55%//52/64%:
Neither the temperature nor the relative humidity forecasts were very close to the actual recorded data. N.O.A.A. missed the mark on these.
Overnight N.O.A.A. predicted no precipitation with the cloud cover from 31%, to 37%, to 43% and finally to 49% by 04:00 hours. The Weather Underground also predicted no precipitation for the overnight according to the model maps. The temperature and relative humidity predictions are detailed next:
Temperature: 38°F/34°F/32°F/30°F:
Relative Humidity: 73%/85%/92%/96%:
The air can only hold so much moisture at a given temperature, so if the absolute quantity of moisture in the air does not change and the temperature goes down the relative humidity goes up. That seems to be what is being predicted here.
My Weather Stick points down, it is in a position that does not seem to be changing. The Weather Station Console and Min/Max Thermometer forecast fair skies and improving barometric pressure. The remote weather station predicts improving barometric pressure, but with cloudy skies. We will see about that in the morning.

Cooler And Drier This Morning
The storm is really gone this time. The wind is now out of the North Northwest bringing us some much cooler and drier air. It is nice for a change. We do need this respite from the inclement weather. I have heard people talking about how depressing the weather has been. N.O.A.A. did get the predominant weather correct, but the cloud cover fell well below 40%. The comparison between the forecast and actual temperature and relative humidity is tabulated next:
Temperature: 51°F/55°F//46°F/49°F//44°F/44°F//41°F/39°F:
Relative Humidity: 86%/90%//89%/83%//86%/76%//85/75%:
The N.O.A.A. forecast for the temperature was quite close, while that for the relative humidity lost some accuracy, as it got closer to morning. The prediction for the predominant weather is for no precipitation, and the cloud cover according to N.O.A.A. will start at 41% rise to 47%, then to 53% and finally fall to 49% by 16:00 hours this afternoon. The predictions for the temperature and relative humidity are detailed next:
Temperature: 40°F/46°F/49°F/47°F:
Relative Humidity: 76%/58%/50%/52%:
It appears that we have a cooler and much drier air mass moving in. That should help keep our streams and swamps in their banks.
My Weather Stick still points down, despite the lower humidity this morning, and I have no idea why, since we are having some drier weather with clear skies. The Weather Station Console and Min/Max Thermometer forecast fair skies with improving barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecasts improving barometric pressure with cloudy skies. As I look outside and see the sunshine, clear skies and trees moving in the breeze there is no doubt that this will be a delightful autumn day. It will be a good day for outdoor activity.

Leaves Just A Little More Rain
I heard this evening that Portland has had over five inches of rain so far this month. We have had 3.79 inches here, but that still has the streams and swamps very full. The other reason that there is so much water around is that we have had 51.53 inches of precipitation here. No matter how you slice it our drought is over here. In fact, we need a little less precipitation so gardens can be planted next spring, and the seed will not rot in the ground as it did this year and last. The sky this evening is down to partly cloudy, and some stars can even be seen. The rain did stop as N.O.A.A. predicted, and the cloud cover is down below 74%. The forecast/actual temperature and relative humidity data are tabulated next:
Temperature: 60°F/63°F//63°F/61°F//64°F/61°F//60°F/58°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/92%//80%/91%//69%/86%//67/88%:
The forecast temperature, once again, was very close to the actual temperature. The forecast relative humidity was not as close late this afternoon as it could have been to the actual relative humidity.
For tonight, the forecast from the Weather Underground model map and N.O.A.A. is for no precipitation. The cloud cover is expected to be between 40 and 50%. The forecast temperature and relative humidity are tabulated next:
Temperature: 51°F/46°F/44°F/41°F:
Relative Humidity: 86%/89%/86%/85%:
It does appear that the storm has actually moved out of the area leaving quite a bit of water in its wake.
My Weather Stick still points down, but with relative humidity at 91% who can blame it. The electronic instruments are going to need a little time to react to the changes in the atmosphere. The result is that the Weather Station Console still forecasts rain with deteriorating barometric pressure. The Min/Max Thermometer is forecasting unsettled weather with an improving atmospheric pressure. Finally, the remote weather station forecasts clouds with improving barometric pressure. I would suggest that the weather will improve overnight as the storm moves offshore and the new air mass moves in.

The Storm Moves On
The wind has picked up, and it is still raining. The overnight cloud cover remained at 100% as indicated by the amount of rain we had. The comparison of forecast/actual temperature and relative humidity are detailed next:
Temperature: 55°F/53°F//53°F/60°F//54°F/62°F//59°F/62°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/94%//100%/95%//100%/94%//100/92%:
The temperature rose much higher than it was expected to, but the predictions really were not very far off. Likewise, the predictions for the relative humidity were a bit higher than the actual, but I do not believe that my weather station will reach 100%, so the forecast data is probably accurate. The Weather Underground model map and N.O.A.A. forecast that the rain will continue for a while, and then taper off to showers. The cloud cover is forecast to decrease from 96% to 89% to 83% and finally to 74% by 16:00 hours this afternoon. The forecast temperature and humidity for today are detailed for 07:00, 10:00, 13:00 and 16:00 hours in the table that follows:
Temperature: 60°F/63°F/64°F/60°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/80%/69%/67%:
It does appear that we are in for another rainy day.
My Weather Stick (surprise, surprise) points down. With the rain and relative humidity, is anyone surprised at that? My Weather Station Console forecasts a storm warning with deteriorating barometric pressure. The other two electronic instruments forecast rain with deteriorating barometric pressure. I repeat myself, it does appear that we are in for another rainy day. Not only that, but we seem to have developed some significant wind to go along with that rain.

Wicked Weather This Way Comes!
The rain keeps coming, and coming, and coming. It was raining when I left for Auburn, and it was still raining when I left Auburn some 4 hours later. N.O.A.A. forecast rain today, and they were correct, as were the Weather Underground model maps. The cloud cover never did improve to 84% by my estimate. It remained at or near 100% all day. The temperature and relative humidity forecast/actual data is tabulated next:
Temperature: 52°F/50°F//55°F/53°F//57°F/53°F//56°F/53°F:
Relative Humidity: 77%/94%//74%/94%//75%/94%//77/94%:
For the overnight both N.O.A.A. and the Weather Underground model forecast map predict rain, heavy at times. The temperature is expected to rise to unprecedented levels, and the cloud cover will remain at 100%. The relative humidity is also expected to be quite high (100% is quite high). The forecast temperature and relative humidity data is tabulated next:
Temperature: 55°F/53°F/54°F/59°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/100%/100%/100%:
My Weather Stick points down, and with the relative humidity at an all time high for this month of 95% that is, again, no surprise. All three of the electronic instruments are forecasting rain (or storm warning) with deteriorating barometric pressure. From the appearance of the rain outside, as well as the cloud cover, I would surmise that they are correct. I guess we will have some rain for a change.

Fog Was Not Predicted!
There is some very dense fog outside my house, and N.O.A.A. did not predict it. Above the fog, it is overcast, as nearly as I can tell. N.O.A.A. did predict increasing cloud cover overnight, and it appears that has happened. They also forecast scattered light showers overnight, and while we did not get any measurable precipitation here, you may have gotten some where you are. The forecast versus the actual temperature and relative humidity are tabulated next:
Temperature: 55°F/46°F//54°F/50°F//53°F/50°F//52°F/50°F:
Relative Humidity: 72%/92%//74%/93%//71%/94%//74/94%:
The difference between the forecast and actual temperature ranged from two to four degrees, and that is not too bad. The relative humidity forecast differed from the actual by nearly 20% at each of the times compared. That is not very good at all.
N.O.A.A. predicts that we will have rain all day today, with an accumulation of about 0.07 inches of rain this morning and 0.13 inches this afternoon. The cloud cover is expected to be 93%/89%/84% with an increase to 91% at 16:00 hours this afternoon. The temperature and relative humidity forecasts are detailed in the next table.
Temperature: 52°F/55°F/57°F/56°F:
Relative Humidity: 77%/74%/75%/77%:
This certainly fits in with a forecast of rain and overcast skies that we are supposed to have today.
My Weather Stick points down, and once again with 91% humidity that is not a surprise. My Weather Station Console and Min/Max Thermometer predict improving barometric pressure with fair skies. The remote weather station forecast is for unsettled weather (mixed clouds and sun) with a steady barometric pressure. Based on what I can see (or not see because of the fog) outside I would tend to go with the latter unit today. Once again, I am surprised that the weather is as unsettled as it is with the barometric pressure as high as it is.

We Had An Hour Of Sun!
Yup, the sun did show up just about an hour before it set. After that, the clouds moved back in and we are overcast with stratus clouds again. The cloud cover never did really break up to yield some fair sky. We saw the sun, and then it went away. When I went out to photograph the weather stick I thought I saw some stars, but I guess I was mistaken, or they went back into hiding behind the current cloud cover. The comparison between the forecast and actual temperature and relative humidity are next:
Temperature: 50°F/50°F//55°F/54°F//58°F/54°F//57°F/54°F:
Relative Humidity: 77%/94%//74%/90%//67%/89%//69/86%::
The actual temperature was pretty close to the forecast, but N.O.A.A. missed by quite a bit on the relative humidity forecast.
Overnight N.O.A.A. is forecasting scattered light showers all night for our area. The cloud cover is predicted to be 68%/76%/83% and 88%, I am not so sure about that, or the showers either. The forecast temperature and relative humidity set forth by N.O.A.A. are tabulated next.
Temperature: 55°F/54°F/53°F/52°F:
Relative Humidity: 72%/74%/71%/74%:
I am beginning to be convinced that the deviation of the actual readings from the forecast data is that MADIS selects the sites to compare and base their forecast. The sites they select may not be the best ones. I think my data is accurate based on other instruments I have, both digital and analog. I am not sure what the other sites are using or when their data is uploaded.
My Weather Stick Points down, as you can see below.

The Relative Humidity Is High/The Weather Is Unsettled!
My Weather Station Console and Min/Max Thermometer are both calling for fair skies with improving barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecasts a mix of clouds and fair skies. Based on what I can see I think that is the better forecast. We may see a scattered shower overnight, but we will certainly see, at least, partly cloudy skies.

It Is Still Dismal!
Description
"The barometric pressure is rising, but we still have overcast conditions. The temperature is incredibly warm for this time of year. We have had no measurable rain since my report of last evening, although as I went out around 17:30 hours there was some drizzle, but not enough to measure. N.O.A.A. and the Weather Underground model map did get this storm right, and the cloud cover was at or near 100% for the period. The temperature and relative humidity data are detailed next:
Temperature: 51°F/54°F//50°F/53°F//51°F/52°F//49°F/51°F:
Relative Humidity: 86%/93%//86%/94%//93%/93%//93/94%:
The forecast and actual temperature and relative humidity data are very close for the overnight period, and I am impressed.
N.O.A.A. is forecasting scattered light showers early this morning, and those clearing out by 10:00 hours. The cloud cover will be a bit more tenacious starting at 95% dropping to 88% with little change for the rest of the day to 81% and back to 83% by 16:00 hours. There appears to be very little change expected in either the temperature or relative humidity for today, and those numbers are detailed next:
Temperature: 50°F/55°F/58°F/57°F:
Relative Humidity: 77%/74%/67%/69%:
My Weather Stick points down, like that is a surprise with 94% relative humidity. My Weather Station Console and Min/Max Thermometer are forecasting improving barometric pressure and fair skies. We are getting the improvement in the atmospheric pressure, but the skies have not cleared yet. The remote weather station forecast improving barometric pressure also, but the outlook is for a mix of clouds and sun. I see overcast sky outside, but we have no fog here, which was predicted last night. I would suggest that we will have a mix of sun and clouds today with unseasonably warm temperatures. This is much to warm for this time of year, but we must accept what we get, since we cannot change it."

The Rain Has Finally Stopped.

The White Spots Are Rain at about 15:00 Hours This Afternoon!!
The sky is still overcast, and my lights keep blinking, as if we are going to lose power. We may not, but it is threatening. The storm warning on my Weather Station Console has stopped flashing, and the other two electronic instruments are showing rainy skies also. The three of them are still forecasting deteriorating barometric pressure. The Weather Stick points down, and with the new high relative humidity of 94% that is expected. Right now it is not raining, and that is the first time I have been able to state that since Sunday. This storm has brought our total for the month of November to 2.71 inches of precipitation.
N.O.A.A. did get the predominant weather correct as well as the cloud cover. The temperature and relative humidity data are tabulated next:
Temperature: 44°F/46°F//48°F/49°F//53°F/53°F//54°F/55°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/93%//100%/94%//86%/94%//80/93%:
The temperature forecast v actual data compare very well. The relative humidity data comparison is not quite as good, but it is not bad.
For the overnight N.O.A.A. does not predict any great changes in either temperature or relative humidity. Their forecast is for the rain to turn to occasional scattered showers until about 01:00 when there may be some fog rolling in. The sky will remain overcast or nearly so for the overnight as well. The projected temperature and relative humidity are tabulated next:
Temperature: 51°F/50°F/51°F/49°F:
Relative Humidity: 86%/86%/93%/93%:
I will weigh in on the side of hope, in that I hope that the rain is over for a while. We do need to dry out a bit or we will have a lot of water in the wetlands, streams and rivers going into winter. That could produce some problems next spring.

Can We Say A Carbon Copy Of Yesterday?
It seems that we are going to have another dark, dank, dreary day, coupled with some more rain. It has rained and been overcast overnight, so N.O.A.A. and the Weather Underground model map got it right again. The cloud cover remained at 100% as N.O.A.A. forecast, and it did rain all night. The temperature and relative humidity data are tabulated next:
Temperature: 45°F/45°F//45°F/45°F//45°F/45°F//44°F/46°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/93%//100%/93%//96%/93%//100/93%:
The forecast and actual temperatures were in almost complete agreement. The relative humidity sensor on my weather station apparently gets no higher than 93%, therefore we need to accept the N.O.A.A. readings of 100% for the overnight. This is a delightful change in the agreement between the actual and forecast data.
For today the predominant weather will once again be rain. The cloud cover is forecast to be 100% until around 16:00 hours when it will drop to 98%. That is not much of a change. The forecast temperature and humidity are detailed next. We may have a ten-degree change in temperature during the day, and the relative humidity is expected to decrease after 13:00 hours.
Temperature: 44°F/48°F/53°F/54°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/100%/86%/80%:
Our November weather seems to be well above normal for temperature and precipitation. Not too many years ago this would all have been snow, but this year we seem to be having a flow coming straight across the country rather than from the arctic circle. We may not have to pay fore these days, but sooner or later we will pay back for this warm weather, and it may not be pleasant.
My Weather Stick points down, and once again with the relative humidity, rain and fog that should surprise no one. The Weather Station console forecasts stormy weather. The Min/Max Thermometer predicts inclement weather, and the remote weather station forecasts clouds. All three electronic instruments are forecasting deteriorating barometric pressure. It does appear that we will have another cool, damp, dark, dismal and unpleasant day. Can we come up with any more adjectives to describe this weather? The goats and sheep will stay in the barn again today. Even they do not get excited about getting wet.

And Still It Rains
We have had gentle rain all day, and that has been combined with fog. The temperature did not change more than five degrees, and the sky has remained overcast, making it a dark, dank, dismal day all the way around. N.O.A.A. certainly got this one right. The temperature and relative humidity data are posted in the next table for your information:
Temperature: 41°F/41°F//45°F/43°F//48°F/44°F//49°F/45°F:
Relative Humidity: 92%/92%//89%/93%//89%/93%//89/93%:
The temperature predictions were very close to the actual readings recorded here. The relative humidity readings were very stable at 93%, and that was 4% higher than the predicted readings. All in all that is not a very bad result.
N.O.A.A. and the weather underground model forecast map indicate that the rain will continue into tomorrow, and the cloud cover will remain at or near 100%. The temperature and relative humidity predictions for the overnight hours are tabulated next:
Temperature: 45°F/45°F/45°F/44°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/100%/96%/100%:
We are seeing very little change in any of these parameters from the forecast level or the actual recorded data.
The Weather Stick points down, and with rain, fog and 93% relative humidity should we be surprised at that. All three of the electronic instruments have now realized that we are having some inclement weather. They indicate deteriorating barometric pressure and unsettled weather. From what I can see (or not see) we seem to be in for more rain and inclement weather. Let us hope that this does not turn to snow or we will have some problems. We will get what we will get.

The Rain Does Not Want To Leave
The rain apparently stopped around 20:30 hours last evening, and then resumed at 05:30 hours this morning. It has been raining moderately since then. The temperature has not changed a great deal since last evening when I did my report, only a degree or so. N.O.A.A. and the Weather Underground forecast map had the cloud cover and precipitation right for the overnight. My electronic instruments had it wrong, since we had no fair skies, although the barometric pressure is still very high. I have detailed the temperature and relative humidity next with the forecast/actual as usual:
Temperature: 44°F/42°F//43°F/41°F//43°F/41°F//42°F/41°F:
Relative Humidity: 85%/91%//92%/90%//94%/92%//92/92%:
The N.O.A.A. forecast for the temperature and relative humidity overnight were very close to the actual readings recorded by my weather station. Once again that is impressive:
For today N.O.A.A. and the Weather Underground model forecast map predict the continuation of the rain. The cloud cover is predicted to be 100% all day, making for a very dismal day. If I were a deer I would get to a place close to food, eat and hide all day today. For that reason I will not be going out in the woods to try my fortune today. The predicted temperature and relative humidity data is tabulated next:
Temperature: 41°F/45°F/48°F/49°F:
Relative Humidity: 92%/89%/89%/89%:
Not only is it going to be dismal, but also it will be humid and cool according to N.O.A.A.
My Weather Stick points down, and if I had not found out how they work I would say that it portends foul weather. In this case it is the only one that would be accurate. All three of my electronic instruments forecast fair skies and improving barometric pressure. The latter is accurate, while the former is totally inaccurate. Once again I think I will stick with the N.O.A.A. forecast, and suggest that we will have periods of rain today, at least until 16:00 hours. So far this month we have had 1.57 inches of rain, and that is impressive.

Well, The Rain Finally Arrived!
Yes, by 17:00 it was raining, although we have had some very light showers all afternoon. They were scattered as well, since I saw some in Augusta as well as Auburn as I traveled around today. The cloud cover predication was correct, although you might have seen something less than 100% in your area. The temperature and relative humidity data forecast/actual are posted next:
Temperature: 45°F/47°F//46°F/48°F//47°F/44°F//46°F/42°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/91%//86%/90%//79%/88%//83/89%:
I do not know how they are getting closer to the actual readings with their projections, but N.O.A.A. does seem to be doing better in that regard.
Overnight N.O.A.A. predicts rain with a 100% cloud cover. It sounds like they are predicting a dismal stretch of weather The predicted temperature and relative humidity data is tabulated next:
Temperature: 44°F/43°F/43°F/42°F:
Relative Humidity: 85%/92%/94%/92%:
I am very happy with my outdoor wood boiler. It is keeping the house warm, and due to the warmer than normal weather it is not eating as much wood as it could.
My Weather Stick points down, and with 91% humidity there is enough said. Here is the unusual part. All three of my electronic instruments are predicting improving barometric pressure (it is already high) and fair skies. I wonder why it is raining like it is. The barometric pressure is above 30.19 inches of Hg, and it is raining as it is. I will stick with N.O.A.A. on this one and suggest that we may well see quite a bit of rain overnight.

The Rain Has Not Arrived Yet!
The ground is wet, there is fog, but, as of yet, there has been no measurable rain. I will check my rain gauge for spider webs, but I do not think that is the problem. I checked the NEXRAD composite radar, and there is rain to the north of us and rain to the south of us, but none here. N.O.A.A.'s prediction of rain after 01:00 was not quite correct, and they did not see the fog in our future either. The forecast of 100% cloud cover appears to be correct, and that continues. The temperature and relative humidity data comparison follows:
Temperature: 46°F/48°F//44°F/47°F//43°F/46°F//41°F/46°F:
Relative Humidity: 76%/80%//87%/85%//94%/89%//95%/91%:
Once again N.O.A.A. has done very well in predicting the temperature and relative humidity.
N.O.A.A. currently forecasts rain for our area, but I do not see that on the NEXRAD radar or the Weather Underground model forecast map. They are predicting rain starting a bit later this morning, but I still do not see that on the radar. They show the rain going north and south of us. The prediction for cloud cover is 100% all day. The predicted temperature and relative humidity data is tabulated next:
Temperature: 45°F/46°F/47°F/46°F:
Relative Humidity: 100%/86%/79%/83%:
I am not sure at the present how this forecast will turn out.
My Weather Stick points down, and once again with 91% humidity that is no shocker. My three electronic instruments still do not seem to be able to agree completely. The Weather Station Console and remote weather station are calling for the barometric pressure to improve. The Min/Max Thermometer is forecasting deteriorating barometric pressure with a mix of clouds and fair skies, as is the remote weather station. The Weather Station Console is forecasting fair skies based on the improvement in the barometric pressure. I do not remember seeing
a barometric pressure this high producing rainstorms, but I suppose it is possible. The only suggestion I can make is that the weather will be unsettled.

Clouds Taking Up Residence Again!
We still have not had any of those light and scattered showers, therefore it may depend on your location whether you get any or not. It has remained warm today with the temperatures in the mid-forties to upper fifties, but it has remained humid. N.O.A.A.'s estimates of the cloud cover for the daylight hours seems to be a bit low, although we did have a brief period of sunshine between 14:00 and 16:00 hours. The temperature and relative humidity records are posted next:
Temperature: 32°F/29°F//45°F/43°F//52°F/57°F//50°F/53°F.
Relative Humidity: 92%/89%//68%/83%//63%/61%//68%/67%.
I can hardly believe it, but the forecast and actual values for the temperature and relative humidity are very close. This is a real improvement in N.O.A.A.'s forecasting prowess.
N.O.A.A. still forecasts scattered light showers until about 01:00 hours after which the rain is supposed to begin. The cloud cover for the evening starts at 85%, mores to 93% and then 100% from 01:00 hours until at least 04:00 hours. Temperature and relative humidity projected data is detailed next:
Temperature: 46°F/44°F/43°F/41°F.
Relative Humidity: 76%/87%/94%/95%.:
If they are correct we will have another night that it will not freeze because of the dense cloud cover, which will act as a blanket holding the heat in. Nice!
My Weather Stick points down as usual with 85% relative humidity. None of my electronic instruments agree totally. The Weather Station Console and remote weather station agree that the barometric pressure is deteriorating. The Min/Max Thermometer forecasts improving barometric pressure and fair skies. The Weather Station Console forecasts a mix of clouds and fair skies, and the remote weather station predicts cloudy skies overnight. I would suggest that we will have unsettled weather, deteriorating barometric pressure and a reasonable chance for some precipitation before morning. I guess I am hedging my bets again.

Changing Pattern?
When I got up this morning the sky was partly cloudy with some cirrus clouds. Now, some two hours later, the sky is overcast with stratus clouds. I did recover the forecast data from last night for the temperature and relative humidity, and have detailed the same below:
Temperature: 39°F/40°F//36°F/38°F//34°F/35°F//32°F/31°F.
Relative Humidity: 67%/72%//80%/77%//84%/80%//84%/86%.
The forecast data came close to the actual temperature and relative humidity.
N.O.A.A. predicts that we will have no precipitation until sometime after 16:00 hours, and then it will be light and scattered. The cloud cover is expected to be 69%/74%/79% and 82%, but right now it is over 82% in this area. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, and then sometimes you are rained out. The temperature and relative humidity forecasts are detailed next:
Temperature: 32°F/45°F/52°F/50°F.
Relative Humidity: 92%/68%/63%/68%.:
It is still warm, just not quite as warm as yesterday.
My Weather Stick still points down, and with 81% relative humidity are we surprised? The electronic instruments almost have it together. The Weather Station Console and Min/Max Thermometer both calling for fair skies (wrong) and improving barometric pressure (right). The remote weather station forecasts improving barometric pressure with mixed clouds and sun. My best guess is that the weather will deteriorate during the day, and we may have some showers late this afternoon or this evening.
