Wilton

While extreme heat is affecting
much of the country, we here in the Northern part of New England are
suffering with one of the coolest and wettest early summers we have
ever had. In June of 2008 we had a little more than 4.5" of rain, while
this year we have had over 10.29". I suspect that may be a record. So
far this month we have had 0.95" of rain, and the temperatures have not
reached 80°F. That may change in the next few days, if the sun comes
out. The N.O.A.A. is suggesting that we may see some breaks in the
clouds today. That may allow temperatures to rise to summerlike levels.
The prediction by N.O.A.A. is for temperatures in the low seventies
though. Our weather to date though is most depressing. My Lawn is
becoming a hayfield, my garden a weedpatch, and my bog a full fledged
pond. I would not be surprised to find fish in it at this point. For
today the N.W.S. is again forecasting rain early with light scattered
showers for the rest of the day. The sky is threatening, and the
predicted cloud cover would support the rainy forecast
(100%/90%/79%/79%). There do not appear to be many showers showing up
on the NEXRAD regional composite radar. The Weather Underground model
forecast maps also indicate some breaks in this weather. That might be
nice. The photo of my Weather Stick and Garden are shown in my
Wunderphotos to the right. I cannot get them to show up in the text
right now, but I will work on that so that the text makes more sense. My
digital instruments are showing the same situation that they did last
night. The La Crosse Weather station calls for unsettled weather. The
Min/Max Thermometer sees rain with both of them forecasting falling
barometric pressure. The remote weather station is steadfastly calling
for fair skies with rising barometric pressure. They did record the
following low temperatures overnight (58.8°F/58.3°F/65.8°F). My meat
chickens are doing very well, growing apace. They are consuming about
10# of feed every two days, and they look it. They should be some very
tasty birds. I do believe in P.E.T.A. People Eating Tasty Animals. We
are built to be omnivores, and I am one with a propensity for eating
meat. enjoy it while it lasts

i live in North Carolina. A week ago I was in Portland, traveling with a tour group. We too had a couple weeks of rain and relatively cool temps. But just before we left summer returned with temperatures hovering in the mid 90's; flirting with 100 in some areas. Then we headed for Mystic Ct. Rain, low 60's. Same thing with Boston. foggy, rain, cool. By the time we hit Maine we thought we would FREEZE. The 2 days we were there we walked around with light jackets and sweat suits on in late June, no less ! So I can understand what you must still be dealing with. But you can always come visit us in the Carolinas if you want real summer. I thought I would die when I arrived home with temperatures in the 90's and not a drop of rain for the last couple of weeks; and people here are complaining about that. We can't control the weather but I was dissappointed that we couldn't go out on the boats to Martha's Vineyard, or in Portland. Hope to come back and try it again someday
