Just A Little More Rain Overnight!!

It does appear that the N.O.A.A. did get the predominant weather correct overnight.  We did have just a bit more rain, so we may not have had the forecast steady rain early in the overnight period.  We did wind up with another 0.04" of precipitation during the entire period.  When I took Ike out there were still puddles in the driveway and the pavement on the road was still wet, so I can only assume that it had stopped raining shortly before we went out.

It Has Rained At Some Level All Day Today!!!

The N.O.A.A. had it right all day today. We have had heavy rain, light rain and moderate rain all to the tune of almost 0.60 inches. We have had enough for a while, at least in my estimation. If this continues we will wind up with a fifth year of seed rotting in the ground before it can produce. I really hope that does not happen.

Here We Go Again With More Rain!

Upon arising and taking Ike out for his morning constitutional I found the N.O.A.A. prediction of rain had come to pass.  It had just started, and is adding up quickly.  We now have had 0.09 inches this morning bringing our monthly total to 2.14".  That should turn my garden into a bowl of oatmeal.  The weeds are already trying to gain the upper hand, so things need to be tilled.

What Was Supposed To Be Nice Turned To Inclement!!

All the prognosticators kept saying Saturday would be a nice day, and the pick of the weekend. Well, the N.O.A.A. actually got it right with the fog this morning clearing off and then light scattered shower for the afternoon. I would not call that a nice day. I got my tools together, and was ready to go out and plant and the showers started. We did not have enough to measure, but we did have enough to wet the pavement, and keep the soil from drying out. I have to have hope that they are wrong about tomorrow.

The Temperatures Are Getting Warmer!!

By the time I got up this morning the fog was gone, but the garden is still quite wet, and even the roads showed evidence of the presence of the fog. Ike was quite pleased to get outside. We seem to be using a great deal less wood in the outdoor wood boiler with the advent of the warmer temperatures. This morning we were a bit cooler than yesterday morning due to the clearer skies. The temperature has already warmed up to over 74°F (10:38). We may actually have some summerlike temperatures today. I guess the N.O.A.A. had the predominant forecast right overnight.

What A Difference A Few Hours Make!!

For today the N.O.A.A. was only half right. We had rain, heavy at times until just after noon, and then the sun came out. I was unable to get anything done outside, other than exercising Ike. The ground should be easy to prepare tomorrow morning, and the plants and seeds taken care of tomorrow afternoon. I look forward to that.

The Rain Has Arrived In Spades!!

My report is late this morning due to the heavy rain we have had.  So far (Noon) we have had 1.73" of rain, but it looks like the sun is coming out, and that is good.  Ike did not like (and neither did I) going out in the rain as we did this morning.  The N.O.A.A.

Not Too Bad A Day!!

We had neither the light rain nor the steadier rain that was
promised by the N.O.A.A. today.  We did
have plenty of clouds though.  The first
10 pounds of my potatoes (Yukon Gold) and now in the ground as are my
cauliflower and broccoli.  The tomatoes
are out by the latticework that will support them once they are in the
ground.  That should happen either

No More Rain Overnight, But Still Dismal!!

Here in Wilton, Maine we did not have any of the light scattered showers that were predicted by the N.O.A.A..  The relative humidity was high enough to make the weather feel dank and dismal this morning. Ike certainly did not want to stay outside, even though it was not raining. Currently Ike is sleeping in "Mother's" chair since "Mother" is not home. Unless there are some breaks in the clouds I may not get outside to do any planting today. I really need to check on the progress of the seed that has been planted so far.

We Did Have A Bit More Rain Today!!
